• What: AddVenture: A free, 6-week, virtual pre-accelerator program focused on idea & early stage student entrepreneurs

• Where: Totally virtual, you can see all program info at: AddVentureMD.org
  
  
• Who: any student from a MD high school, college, or university. Recent alums and community members accepted if space permits

• Why: Because the earliest-stage students are going to be left out when our limited programs come back in the fall; we deny too many apps because “too early”; many students need something bc internships fell through; a great way for us to do top-of-funnel activity 
  
  
• How: Written, self-paced curriculum with deliverables. Peer groups via Slack. Daily Office Hours + Weekly Topic Discussions spread between ~10 of us “Mentors”. 1-1 session with Mentor + Demo Day invite if team completes all deliverables and engages via slack, office hours, etc. 

The Dresher Center for the Humanities stands in solidarity with members of our Black community and other communities suffering across the nation. We mourn and condemn the murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and so many others. We recognize the injustice of a system of mass incarceration rooted in white supremacy under which Black and Brown women and men, including queer and trans people, are unduly subject to violence. We rededicate ourselves at this time to calling out and taking action to oppose white supremacy and the powerful systems of racial injustice that remain at work in the United States, including in institutions of higher education. We will use our platform, programming, and voices to bring the tools of the humanities to work against racism and for social justice.

To start, we offer the following list of resources for work against anti-Black racism. While not definitive, it is our hope that this list provides articles, books, podcasts, films, and other media that will be stepping stones towards a wider conversation.

Also, in partnership with the Center for Social Science Scholarship, we invite you to attend an online Faculty Drop-in Session on Friday June 12 at 10:00 A.M. to consider how can we use our roles as faculty, teachers, chairs/directors, or mentors to work towards racial justice, social change, civic action, community action, and pedagogical engagement. *Internship Position: Privacy Marketing intern *

Ardent is seeking motivated graduate students, law school students, and very talented upperclassmen who are experienced in *technology policy, fintech and/or cybersecurity*.

This role will be best suited for students who are passionate about privacy and technology. The internship will total between 200-300 hours, and you will get to work out of the Ardent office in Catonsville and/or remotely over the summer, depending on the pandemic.

*Qualifications:*

   - Demonstrated passion for relevant technology policy issues;

   - Excellent communication skills

   - Proven research and analytical skills;

   - Excellent writing skills;

   - Resourcefulness, determination, and tenacity;

   - Comfort talking to potential customers and partners

   - Technical knowledge, skills, and aptitude a plus.

*Responsibilities:*

   - Contribute research and writing to projects that may include a broad range of tech policy issues, consumer privacy, financial technology, and cybersecurity.

   - Contribute to data privacy technology development

   - Identify and analyze emerging issues in tech policy

   - Assist with administrative tasks, social media posting, and events

   - Other tasks as directed.
