    <Title>Baltimore Center Stage seeks Non Equity Dancers</Title>

          <div class="html-content"><p>BALTIMORE CENTER STAGE seeks two non-Equity female-identifying dancers to join the ensemble of SOUL The Stax Musical by Matthew Benjamin, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah and choreographed by Chase Brock. Dancers must be versatile. A background in jazz, musical theatre and/or ballet is a plus. Dancers of all ethnicities are encouraged to apply. Rehearsals will take place Tuesday, March 27, 2018 through Thursday, May 10, 2018. Performances, Thursday, May 3, 2018 through Sunday, June 10, 2018. Auditions and callbacks will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018.</p></div>

See films by local animators including Oscar nominated "<a href="http://www.tinyinventions.com/main/negative-space/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Negative Space</a>" by Tiny Inventions! <strong>UMBC</strong> is represented by animation professor Corrie Francis Parks (<span>"A Tangled Tale") </span>and <span>UMBC animation alum Ben Schaffer (</span>"The Little Protector"). Lots of the directors will be there for a Q&amp;A so a chance to mingle and say hello with like-minded individuals. <br>

  <Title>Dresher Center Graduate Student Research Fellowships</Title>

    <strong>The application deadline is May 1, 2018 for two fellowships: one in fall 2018 and one in spring 2019. </strong><div><br></div>
    <div>
    <div>The Dresher Center for the Humanities invites applications for two Graduate Student Research Fellowships for the 2018-19 academic year. One fellowship will be awarded for fall 2018 and one for spring 2019 (this is a change from previous years). Funding is intended to support and promote promising humanities research by graduate students at UMBC. These fellowships are open to all UMBC doctoral and master’s level students working on humanities-related research projects that will culminate in a dissertation or master’s thesis.</div>

    <div>Fellows will receive up to $1,500 to be used for research travel, materials, or other directly-related research expenses. They will present a session as part of the CURRENTS: Humanities Work Now series and attend the Humanities Forum and other Dresher Center events and workshops. The Dresher Center will allow fellows to work in Center office space, as available. After their fellowship term, fellows will submit a summary of the work they accomplished during the semester, as well as a statement on progress made toward the completion of their dissertation or thesis.</div>

    <strong>Reference &amp; Instruction Librarian</strong><br><br>We seek an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented individual to work as subject librarian in the humanities and to provide general reference assistance to the UMBC community. The successful candidate is expected to provide a wide range of reference, instructional, and outreach services to students, faculty, and staff. This position will work closely with the Instruction Coordinator to design and deliver library curriculum and instruction activities for first-year courses, including English 100 and Introduction to an Honors University seminars. <br><br><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES: </strong><br>This position serves as subject librarian to a number of academic departments in the humanities. Duties include providing library instruction, outreach, collection development, and research support to students, faculty and staff. As part of a department of six faculty librarians and one support staff, this position provides general reference service to the campus community (including shared evening and weekend hours) and participates in the planning and implementation of departmental operations. As an instruction librarian, this position designs and delivers library curriculum and instruction activities and contributes to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Library’s information literacy and instructional program.<br><br><strong>REQUIREMENTS: </strong><br><ul>
    <li>Master of Library &amp; Information Science degree (or equivalent ALA accredited degree)</li>
    <li>Demonstrated ability and interest in providing dynamic library instruction and contributing to a team-based information literacy program</li>
    <li>Demonstrated ability and interest in the areas of library public services and outreach</li>
    <li>Demonstrated high-quality written and verbal communication</li>
    <li>Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team</li>
    <li>Ability to initiate and lead projects to completion</li>
    <li>Interest and/or experience working with diverse populations, particularly students</li>
    <li>Undergraduate or advanced degree in a humanities discipline preferred</li>
    <li>Reference experience in an academic library setting preferred</li>
    <li>Direct teaching or library instruction experience preferred</li>
    </ul>
    <strong>SALARY AND BENEFITS:  </strong><br>This position is a full time (40 hours/week), 12-month library faculty appointment at anticipated rank of Librarian I. Salary commensurate with experience—minimum salary $46,000. Comprehensive benefits.     <p><span>Shelley Niro (Mohawk, b. 1954) will speak about her art practice, including her work in the current exhibition in the library gallery, <a href="https://wp.me/p2xNJ1-2h3" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span><em>Our People, Our Land, Our Images</em></span></a>.</span></p>

    <p><span><strong>Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 4 p.m. </strong></span><strong>in room 132, Performing Arts and Humanities Building</strong></p>
    <p><span>Dr. Alfreda Murck, author of <em>Poetry and Painting in Song China, The Subtle Art of Dissent</em> and previous Associate Curator of Asian Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present a lecture on the work of Lo Ch’ing, the poet-painter. The lecture places the artist in the context of the millennia-long tradition of Chinese landscape painting and coincides with the <a href="https://wp.me/p2xNJ1-2hi" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>CADVC exhibition, <em>The Poet’s Brush: Chinese Ink Paintings by Lo Ch’ing</em></span></a>. Connie Rosemont will introduce Dr. Murck, the CADVC’s project, and her involvement with the Lo Ch’ing interview for the exhibition catalog.</span></p>
