Creative Alliance Event Manager

Creative Alliance, is a vibrant arts organization offering dynamic performances, screenings and exhibitions in a fun, friendly environment. We are looking for confident, social, take-charge person to manage our facility and its staff during events. Event managers are responsible for setting the house, accounting for banks, managing bar and door staff, interacting with guests, and closing the facility. The right person will be great at seeing the big picture while paying attention to details.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years' experience working in academia, or a community education setting. Master's degree preferred.

Ability to design, develop and implement community education programs, and manage execution in multiple locations. Ability to accurately forecast and track unit revenue and expenses. Experience in program budget management, and skilled at managing program expenses efficiently. Knowledge and experience with educational programs in a community or educational setting, preferably in the visual arts.

Dr. Tiffany Holmes’99, IMDA MFA, is the Outstanding Alumna of the Year for Visual and Performing Arts. Dr. Holmes is Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Professor of Art and Technology Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The IMDA Welcome Event welcomes six new graduate students to the Intermedia + Digital Arts MFA graduate program this fall. Each will give a brief presentation on their artwork prior to Dean Holmes’s artists’ lecture: Aimi Bouillon, Dilay Koçogullari, Leah Michaels, Mandy Morrison, Bryan O’Neill andNicole Ringel.

The Walters Art Museum has an immediate opening for an individual to work in the Security Department on the Evening Shift (4:00pm to 12:00 midnight), Wednesday thru Sunday.

Next day, join us at the Fine Arts Building and the Imaging Research Center, for the Visual Arts Open House, with daytime events and activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come and catch up with your favorite profs, and view the work of UMBC Alumni.

Wrap the day up with the The Golden Ball from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.,  a black and gold themed metallic masquerade inspired by the Wiemar Bauhaus’ Metal Party of 1929. The evening will commence with a cabaret showcase of alumni performance featuring Christine Ferrera, Tom Boram, Carrie Reynolds and other surprise IMDA MFA Alumni! After we’ll relax and reconnect with music, refreshments, and dancing to DJ Erik Spangler (aka Double 8) on the ones and twos.

Open Works Site Visit

Join us Friday, November 18 at 9:30 AM for a CIRCA facilitated visit to Open Works, the newly launched creative center for makers and artists in Baltimore’s Station North Arts and Entertainment District.

Open Works is a project of the Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation, with substantial support from State, Corporate and Foundation partners.

This 21st century makerspace features a computer lab, electronics shop, textiles and fabrication and rapid prototyping spaces in 3-d printing, woods and metals.

Wardrobe Master required for Anne of the Thousand Days at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Duties include: pressing and steaming costumes prior to performance, helping actors dress, setting up and performing multiple quick changes backstage, minor wig maintenance (will train), laundry at the end of the performance (washer and dryer in theater), and minor costume repairs as necessary. Call time ninety minutes before curtain. Tech rehearsals begin October 12. Performances begin October 19 and run through November 13. Relevant experience required. Paid.
