Job Description

The Director of Community Engagement manages all community engagement programming and events at Everyman Theatre. This position is an exciting new addition to the Theatre’s senior staff and is responsible for producing Everyman’s existing community-based work, while innovating, expanding and deepening it to align with the institution’s long-term strategic vision.

Annex Theatre is a fun experimental theatre company, which was recently recognized as the Best Theatre in Baltimore Magazine's 2016 Best of Baltimore Issue. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with general administrative skills, including accounting, budgeting, and development, to come on board. This job starts at $400 per month and we are seeking somebody who can work 10 hours per week. We're looking for a candidate who can work collaboratively with our company to help us grow.

Maryland Historical Society

Reporting to the President, the Director of Development will build and oversee relationships with current and prospective donors, corporate representatives, and trustees to engage and involve those with capacity and interest. The Director will also play a lead role in pursuing, securing, and servicing corporate contributions for the Society, including philanthropic funds, marketing/promotional sponsorships, and in-kind support.

The awards will be used as academic scholarships (up to $1,000), or as “seed funding” (up to $2,000) to launch new ventures or community based social entrepreneurship projects.  

CRITERIA:

• Submit a 1-2 page personal statement about their interest in entrepreneurship.  The statement should:

• Describe the impact an academic scholarship will have on their future as an entrepreneur or social innovator or

• Describe how the award money will be used as “seed funding” to launch a new venture, or “seed funding” to launch a community based social entrepreneurship project.  Submit a preliminary budget outlining anticipated expenses.

• Submit an updated resume

• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

The Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship provides a $500 scholarship award to an outstanding UMBC undergraduate interested in becoming an entrepreneur. The scholarship will be awarded for the 2016-2017 academic year.

• Be a full-time degree-seeking student in good standing at UMBC

Description

Customer Discovery and the validation of the hypotheses that underpin your Business Model are crucial steps before a formal business plan is developed or extensive development is undertaken. In this workshop you will learn about the Lean Start-up methodology that is being applied to venture creation and will focus on the philosophies and techniques that you will use as you identify your initial target customer segment and corresponding set of value propositions. It will help you understand how to develop the "Metrics That Matter" across the full business model, and the role that a minimum viable product (MVP) plays in helping to find a true product market fit. A must-have technique to eliminate confirmation bias and to discover true customer needs.

About Bob

Robert Storey is the Principal of The MVR Company and the Managing Director of the Maryland branch of VIC Technology Venture Development, a private, for-profit development firm with offices in Annapolis, Boston, Fayetteville, and San Diego. At VIC, he assists in the assessment and creation of new ventures, with a particular focus on medical technologies.

He is currently a National Instructor for both the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps™ and for the National Institute of Health’s I-Corps @ NIH™ program.  In addition to his role at the US national level, he has been the principal instructor for international cohorts in the I-Corps & Lean Start-up arena in South America and Asia Pacific, as well as lead instructor for the US State Department’s Global Initiative for Innovation in Technology programs in Southern and Western Africa.

He is active on a national basis on the subject of assessment and formation of start-up technologies, and sits on the Boards of six start-up and mature firms.
