    <u><strong>POSITION TITLE:</strong></u> Library Services Technician (Job # 024)<br><br><strong><u>PERSONNEL STATUS:</u></strong> Nonexempt, Full-time, Regular<br>                            <br><strong><u>DEPARTMENT:</u></strong> Library <br>            <br><strong><u>RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></strong> The incumbent will perform basic database maintenance for library collections in several databases for a variety of materials.  Specific duties include: performing basic serials copy cataloging; copying catalog, UMBC theses and dissertations in several databases such as Aleph, ContentDM, and OCLC; assisting with routine processes such as weeding and transferring materials; patron purge clean up; assisting with projects such as metadata creation for digitized collections; making decisions based on established procedures to resolve cataloging and database maintenance related problems; and performing other duties as assigned.<br><br><u><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></u><br><em>Education Experience:</em> Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of library or related clerical or public service experience.     <div>UMBC's first commencement took place June 7, 1970 at 7pm on the Quad. 152 of the total 244 students who graduated were part of the "Founding Class," the first group of students to complete four full years at UMBC. The class of 1970 was also one of the firsts to organize a senior project. Seniors collected donations from the UMBC community to start a campus fund that would assist students that needed help to pay their tuition bill. The students collected a total of $13,000 which is equivalent to $80,000 today! </div>
