By sharing stories about his time editing and gripping in Hollywood, California and his decision to start his own television production company in Baltimore, Neil will convey valuable lessons about how to sell yourself properly.

JOB SUMMARY:
Young Audiences is seeking enthusiastic, hardworking artists/teachers to serve as teaching artist assistants for its Summer Arts and Learning Academy operated in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools. This job is a key component of the success of the academy, and teaching assistants will have the opportunity to work alongside some of our state’s most experienced and accomplished professional teaching artists. Assistants will be paired with a teaching artist for the entirety of the program and will work closely with them to plan and implement lessons in their given art form. Assistants will assist with set-up and breakdown, assist students in learning through the art form, assist with attendance and record keeping, and assist with the coordination of student showcases and performances/exhibitions throughout the city. Assistants will also accompany students, teaching artists and staff on field trips.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Summer Arts and Learning Academy Grade Level teacher is key to insuring rigorous and meaningful learning in both literacy and math at the Summer Arts Learning Academy sites. Grade level teachers will be paired with a highly skilled teaching artist to provide arts integrated instruction daily.

DATABASE AND GRANTS MANAGER (SKILLED SERVICE)

SALARY RANGE: $41,358 – $65,827

The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Database and Grants Manager (Agency Grants Specialist II) within its Division of Tourism, Film and the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). The primary responsibilities of this position will be to manage database systems and reporting functions for MSAC grant programs. The incumbent will also supervise a Management Associate. The position is responsible for all database management and related reporting activities for 800+ grantees annually. These activities include: supervising the planning, development and implementation of the electronic grants management system including: database, custom Web-based electronic grant application system, and custom Web interfaces to specialized Arts Council databases; testing of e- applications; compiling statistical and budgetary data; maintaining an automated tracking system for all grants from inception to close; coordinating the preparation of grant packages; reviewing, analyzing, reconciling and monitoring grant agreement invoices; and initiating and monitoring the grant payment process.

Event Description

The focus of this workshop is to teach students and faculty how to
translate their viable business ideas into a concise pitch presentation
that investors can understand and rally behind. Attendees will learn
about the structure, research, design and delivery of an effective
business pitch.  In addition to the presentation, attendees will be
provided with a step-by-step plan and worksheet to take away from the
workshop to help them get started.

He is also a mentor with SCORE of Greater Baltimore, an Electrical Engineer, an Angel Investor and a UMBC Alumnus. His focus is on encouraging positive change through technology and innovation. He has experience in business startup, management, M&A, technical management, business development, engineering design, government contracts, education, and business finance & investment. He is a member of the Baltimore Angels, and is the SCORE representative to UMBC. He has counseled and advised numerous UMBC students regarding their business ideas. He has a MSEE from Johns Hopkins University, a MA in Teaching from UMBC, a BSEE from the University of Akron and a Certificate of CoOp Education.
