We’ll discuss what trademarks are, the benefits of federal trademark registration, and the basics of the registration process. We’ll also talk about why it’s so important for any new business to select a trademark that is both federally registrable and legally protectable. We’ll close out the discussion with a question-and-answer session and direct you to free resources from the USPTO.</span></p><p><span>Students, faculty, alumni, and members of the business community are welcome to attend! Kuhn Library &amp; Gallery at UMBC is seeking a Maryland Traditions Archivist/General Associate for special collections.</p><p>Responsibilities include: </p><ul><li>Processes new and existing archival collections preserved within the Maryland Traditions Archives at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), which are generated through the regular activity of the Maryland Traditions folklife program of the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) and its constituents.</li><li>Following department and professional standards, the Maryland Traditions Contract Archivist: Creates finding aids compliant with archival metadata standards; develops detailed inventories of materials; catalogs materials for archival and research use; drafts finding aids for the collections; re-houses materials in accordance with archival best practices; identifies materials in need of preservation; and integrates collections previously held at MSAC, MDSA, and regional folklife centers into unified collections at UMBC.</li><li>Maintains and keeps updated master inventory of materials processed to date and inventory of materials to be processed.</li><li>Manages the Maryland Folklife at UMBC website and assists with promotion for ongoing projects under the UMBC Maryland Folklife Network grant.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><th>Required Minimum Qualifications:</th><td><ul><li>At the time of appointment, an ALA-accredited Master's degree in Archives or<br>Library/Information Science with an emphasis on formal archival education and<br>training, OR a Master's degree in history, American Studies, or other relevant<br>discipline, with experience in archives, archival course work, or archival certificate. Early career archivists encouraged to apply.</li><li>One year of experience working in an archives, special collections, or comparable setting (may include as an intern, volunteer, or student worker).</li><li>Familiarity with EAD, DACS, and other archival standards. Thanks to a generous grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, we have over 900 trees coming to campus and we need your help! See below for dates and time slots available to volunteer.
