Starting a new company is exciting but it is never easy! There are always unexpected challenges along the way. In this talk Gianna and Brad Arnold will discuss the factors that led to their decision to create NuMoon Technologies, LLC, their use of available Maryland resources, and the pivots they have had to make along the way.
NuMoon is a recognized leader in Raman spectroscopy. It provides laser-based technologies aimed at improving safety of our warfighters and first responders. It is located at bwTECH@UMBC South campus. Don't miss this opportunity to hear about their incredible entrepreneurial journey!

Do you have an idea that solves a problem in society or the environment? Is there a product or service idea you have that is better than the current solution? Do you love to find innovative solutions for all types of problems?
The Idea and Innovation Challenge, sponsored by a generous donation from Scott Weber ‘85 and Nancy Burger, is your chance to explore your solution to a problem and win money in the process. Students can enter ideas in the Technology & Innovation track, the Social Impact track, or the NEW Spark track.
Don’t have your own idea? The Spark Track will provide the problem – you provide the solution. This year’s problem is how to better make use of food waste in Baltimore and beyond.

Communications and Social Media Internship
The Communications and Social Media Intern will support the Maryland Center for History and Culture’s social media outreach efforts, and other related communications tasks, within the Communications and Marketing Department. The intern will gain experience working in a nonprofit setting and sustaining a social media audience to support the Museum, Library, education programs, and public events at MCHC— the oldest continuously operating cultural institution in Maryland.

The Idea Pitch Day event is a great time to get feedback on your idea or existing business and find other students that might be interested in helping you as well as learning more about the Idea Competition. This is the perfect opportunity for students who want to enter the competition to informally pitch their idea to an audience as a way to receive feedback in a casual, relaxed setting.
If you aren't sure you're ready to submit an idea, that's OK! This event is a great time to get feedback on your preliminary idea or existing business, and to find other students interested in helping you. It will also give you a chance to learn more about the ABCEI's competitions and events.
