    <Title>Finals Challenge 2020</Title>
    <Tagline>Get ready for finals and enter to win a prize!</Tagline>

          <div class="html-content"><div>For the end of the semester, AOK Library has put together a Finals Challenge! </div><div><br></div><div>From now through December 15, do <strong>five </strong>of the activities listed below and take a picture--either while you complete it or of your finished product. Post the photos on social media and tag the library (on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/aoklibrary" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/umbclibrary" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Twitter</a>, or <a href="https://www.instagram.com/umbclibrary/?hl=en" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Instagram</a>). You can post all of them together or separately--just make sure they’re posted by the end of the day on December 15th and that we’re tagged in all of them. </div><div><br></div><div>If you do more than five activities, you’ll get an extra entry in the prize drawing for a gift from the bookstore! Winners will be announced December 16. </div><div><br></div><div>Challenge activities:</div><div><ul><li>Take part in a <a href="https://recreation.umbc.edu/fitness-wellness/class-schedule/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">RAC streaming wellness class</a></li><li>Attend a virtual performance or exhibit (some UMBC options: <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/142uH0Xd_pvN84tMRJHrshJIjiSsklDerYb1iYNyf6hE/edit" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">music</a> and <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/arts" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Arts at UMBC</a>) </li><li>Organize your study space or organize your class materials</li><li>Make a finals study plan- how do you plan to organize your study time?     <Title>Curbside Library Service is on the move!</Title>
    <Tagline>New location to pick up your stuff starts November 1</Tagline>

          <div class="html-content"><div><span>Cold weather is coming, and the Albin O. Kuhn Library &amp; Gallery's popular curbside pickup service for books and equipment is moving indoors! </span><div><br></div></div><div>Beginning <strong>November 1</strong>, Library staff will be happy to serve you at the main entrance to the Library building. During advertised <a href="https://library.umbc.edu/curbside-pickup.php" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">curbside hours</a>, the left-side front exterior door will be unlocked. Just look for the "curbside" signs, call us at 410-455-2354 when you arrive, and you will find your requested materials on a table inside the vestibule.     <Tagline>Cross search Inspec and Compendex until June 30, 2020</Tagline>

Kuhn Library &amp; Gallery is exploring the option of moving the database Inspec to the Engineering Village platform.</div><div><br></div><div>The INSPEC content is the same as before; on this new platform you now have the ability to search INSPEC and Compendex as separate databases or together for one result list. Access to Inspec analytics is available, as are Scopus citation counts.   </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>The trail is available until June 30, 2020. Students and faculty are highly encouraged to explore the collection and provide feedback through the comments section below. </div><div><br></div></div>

    <Title>Drop-off Locations for Residential Students Only</Title>
    <Tagline>Safely return USM library materials</Tagline>

          <div class="html-content">Residential students who have a scheduled move-out time, please bring your library materials to campus.  Arrangements have been made for you to safely return USM library materials during your visit.<br>
          <br>
          There are three curb-side locations for library materials* drop-off through <strong>Friday, May 22</strong>:<br>
                - Center Road at Erickson Hall<br>
                - Poplar Road at True Grits<br>
                - Front entrance to Apartment Community Center<br>
          <br>
          *Books, DVDs, CDs &amp; DML equipment.  You are able to return books, CDs, and DVDs from all USM libraries.<br>
          <br>
          Please return laptops to the UMBC Police station, which remains open.<br>
          <br>
          You will not be charged a late fee, even if you have received an overdue or<br>
          replacement fee notice. Once the item is checked in, the fine will be<br>
          cancelled. This amnesty will be in effect for a few months.<br>
          <br>
          This message applies only to students who have scheduled a move-out time<br>
          with Residential Life.  General return of library material is not available<br>
          at this time, as we are still operating under the Governor's order to limit<br>
          non essential travel.<br>

          <div class="html-content"><div><span>Library hours and services are in flux due to campus planning for COVID-19 (coronavirus). Please stay tuned to MyUMBC or the <a href="https://library.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Library &amp; Gallery website</a> for the most recent information and hours.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div>All Library &amp; Gallery events are canceled until at least April 6, per University policy. </div><div><br></div><div>For research assistance, we encourage our users to contact us <a href="https://library.umbc.edu/makearesearchappt#foo" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">via email or our Ask a Librarian chat service</a>.</div><div><span> </span></div><div><span>Students and instructors with materials on course reserve:  some </span><strong>physical reserves materials </strong><span>may be available in our catalog as e-books, on sites that allow streaming of media items, or are accessible via the public domain. </span><span>If the item is not available electronically, the Reserves (or ILL) staff, upon request, may be able to </span><strong>digitize assigned readings</strong><span> </span><span>from items on Course Reserves and post to Blackboard.</span><span> </span><span>We are unable to reproduce content from a disc. Please allow a minimum of five business days for requests to digitize course materials. Staff will prioritize requests by the assignment due date whenever possible.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><p>For requests to digitize course readings, please obtain the name and number of the course and share the digital copy with the Reserves staff (<a rel="nofollow external" class="bo">reserves-group@umbc.edu</a>).</p><p>For inquiries regarding <strong>due dates and fines</strong>, nothing will become due from Sunday March 15th through Sunday March 22nd.  All USM libraries will be lenient with fines if campuses close post March 22nd. <span>Note that </span><strong>some short-term loan items may become due</strong><span> whenever the owning library is open.  Patrons do need to be mindful of honoring such due dates – i.e. course reserves, and media items and equipment.</span></p></div></div>
