    <Title>From Syllabi to Textbooks- Institutional OER Accessibility</Title>

          <div class="html-content"><span>ISKME and CAST’s National <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=6e38224870&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">AEM (Accessible Educational Materials) Center</a> invite <strong>teams of faculty and staff</strong> to learn how to use accessible Open Educational Resources (OER) to make learning more equitable and bust the barriers to learning that millions of learners experience every day. <br> <br>Our Accessible OER Academy series is provided at no-cost to teams at Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) and will introduce cohorts to how openly licensed resources are key levers for both adapting existing resources to increase digital accessibility and designing resources that are accessible for learners with disabilities from the start. OER Creation Showcase and heard from faculty across the state who have created openly licensed instructional and learning materials. <br><br>Recordings from the Showcase are now available on the <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=f4fa448c2e&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">event webpage</a>, along with links to the presenters’ OER.<br><br>The Showcase began with a keynote presentation,<em> Using Open to Create More Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Resources</em>, presented by Apurva Ashok, Executive Director of the Rebus Foundation.<br><br>Following the keynote presentation, there were three concurrent Showcase blocks featuring Maryland faculty and the open educational resources they have created, including resources for courses such as data analytics, ESL, grant writing, Spanish, quantitative literacy, and engineering. <br><br>We encourage you to check out their resources and listen to the recordings of their presentations!<br> </td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></div>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span><strong><span>From Syllabi to Textbooks - Accessibility in Open Educational Resources for Institutions of Higher Education</span></strong></span></p><p><em><span>A series of 3 no-cost intensives designed to build capacity in IHE teams</span></em></p><p><span><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=15fbbc3738&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">ISKME </a>and <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=326d691711&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">CAST’s National AEM Center</a> invite teams of faculty to learn how to use accessible Open Educational Resources (OER) to make learning more equitable and bust the barriers to learning that millions of learners experience every day. </span></p><p><span>The Accessible OER Academy series is provided at no-cost to faculty at Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) and will introduce cohorts to how openly licensed resources are key levers for both adapting existing resources to increase digital accessibility and designing resources that are accessible for learners with disabilities from the start. Participants will also gain an understanding of how accessibility relates to Universal Design for Learning (UDL). </span></p><p>We invite educators from the same Institution to form a cohort. Throughout the six-week series, cohorts will receive access to a curated set of high quality resources to review and adapt for use in their own settings. Institution cohorts that complete all six sessions will be invited to present at a national summit alongside CAST and ISKME. Each individual participant of the Academy will receive a certificate of completion. Each team will submit one <u>application</u>.</p><p><span>We encourage cohorts of 3-5 faculty to represent a diversity of lived experiences, classroom expertise, and current educational roles. Consider building your team with representatives from full-time faculty, part-time faculty, disability services, ed tech, assistive technology, library media, and administration. Your team will produce resources that can be used with and to benefit all learners, so consider building a team that can collaborate for instructional purposes. The cohort will explore modifying a variety of resources - with a focus on syllabi and entire textbooks.</span></p><p><span>The series will consist of three 90-minute webinars with three 90-minute implementation sessions between each. We’d like to hear from individuals and teams that have OER works in progress or projects completed within the last 5 years. <br><br></span><a title="Review Call for Proposals" href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=fc4fa8e794&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Review Call for Proposals</a><span><br><br></span><span><strong>Submission Deadline: Friday, April 14, 2023, 11:59 p.m. ET</strong></span><br><br><span>Presenters will have 10-15 minutes of presentation time followed by moderated Q&amp;A, for a total of 20 minutes. We ask you to limit the number of presenters to no more than 3 people though additional collaborators are welcome to be in the session and be available for the Q&amp;A portion of the presentation. <br><br>We ask that the OER featured in the showcase be: </span><ul><li><span>openly licensed with a Creative Commons 4.0 International License,</span></li><li><span>accessible according to WCAG 2.0 and WCAG 2.1 Standards, and</span></li><li><span>openly and freely available outside their delivery platforms.</span></li></ul><span>We strongly encourage creation projects that have/had as an aim increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for all learners as well as projects that include(d) the meaningful engagement of students as co-creators or contributors (development and/or feedback/review stages). Initiative is pleased to announce a </span><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=23b2f59135&amp;e=672b5b26c1" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Request for Proposals for the 2023 OER Grant Program</span></a><span>. </span><span>For 2023, M.O.S.T. is seeking proposals for two grant programs.  </span></p><p><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=12506a0b50&amp;e=672b5b26c1" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Faculty OER Grant Program</span></a></p><p><span>The Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) initiative is seeking proposals for its Faculty OER Grant Program, which supports faculty efforts to increase access, affordability, and achievement for students at Maryland's postsecondary institutions through the incorporation of open educational resources (OER) into teaching practice.</span></p><p><span>Available grants in 2023:</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Adopt/Adapt OER ($1,000 grant + Participation in the Lumen Circles Community of Practice)</span></p></li><li><p><span>Create/Revise and Publish OER ($2,000 grant + Participation in the Rebus Textbook Success Program)</span></p></li><li><p><span>OLI STEM Courseware Grants ($5,000 grant + Participation in the NSF-Funded Carnegie Mellon Open Learning Initiative (OLI) STEM Courseware Project) NOTE: Available for 2-year colleges only</span></p></li></ul><p><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=3468c9d97f&amp;e=672b5b26c1" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Institutional OER Grant Program</span></a></p><p><span>The Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) initiative is seeking proposals for the Institutional OER Grant Program, which supports strategic institutional efforts to increase access, affordability, and achievement for students at Maryland's postsecondary institutions through more systemic incorporation of open educational resources (OER) into teaching practice.</span></p><p><span>For 2023, selected institutions will be awarded $20,000 grants to support significant advances in OER adoption, scaling, and sustainability in support of student success. In addition, grantees will receive strategic planning and implementation support for their projects from M.O.S.T. in the form of consultations and regular monthly check-ins.</span></p><p><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=891f20833f&amp;e=672b5b26c1" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>All proposals must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 1, 2023</span></a></p><p><span>All institutional grants and faculty grants awarded to UMBC must be routed to the Office of Sponsored Programs prior to submission.   <Title>Call for Participants DOERS3 Equity Through OER Rubric Pilot</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><span><a href="https://www.doers3.org" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success</a> has announced a Call for Proposals seeking participants to pilot the <a href="https://www.doers3.org/equity-through-oer-rubric.html" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Equity Through OER Rubric</a> with postsecondary education partners across the United States.</span></div><div><br></div><div>Through a generous grant provided by the Hewlett Foundation, funding is available in the form (6) $10,000 block grants to participating postsecondary institutions, and one (1) grant of $18,000 available to postsecondary education systems or state postsecondary education coordinating organizations (SHEEOs).
