Are you interested in gaining facilitation experience applicable in virtually all careers? Do you want to show students that leadership is something that can be learned? If you said yes to any of these, apply to be a Peer Facilitator for RLI!
The Retriever Leadership Institute (RLI) is a free 5-week leadership development workshop series just for UMBC students. Participants will meet once per week for 1.5 hours with their peer facilitators in one of four contextualized cohorts: Commuter Retrievers, Transfer Retrievers, Honors College Retrievers, and Residential Retrievers. During RLI, students will engage in meaningful learning about their values as a leader, working in teams, managing conflict, social identity, and much more.
Peer Facilitators prepare and facilitate 5 weekly workshop sessions in pairs. Outside of your weekly sessions, you meet in your peer facilitator pairs weekly to plan for that week's session. You are also responsible for attending weekly RLI trainings on Fridays at 3 p.m. The amount of time spent every week is roughly five hours.
The deadline to submit this application is Friday, March 30, 2018 at 3 PM. If selected for an individual interview, applicants are expected to attend an interview on April 7, 2018 which will include a mock facilitation.
