Members of the New Student Success Team serve as UMBC representatives to incoming students during Welcome Week and throughout the academic year in first-year courses. In each of these roles students not only enhance their own leadership skills, but make a difference in the lives of new students.

Introduction to an Honors University (IHU) seminars and Transfer (TRS) seminars are semester-long courses designed to help new students transition to UMBC, develop academic success skills, and learn about campus resources.
Students serving as Peer Facilitators for these courses will co-teach with a staff instructor on a weekly basis during the fall and/or spring semesters, essentially serving as a TA for these courses.
Welcome Week Leaders (Woolies)
Welcome Week is a week and a half long series of social and educational events designed to help new students get connected and learn about opportunities to get involved both in and out of the classroom.
Welcome Week Leaders (also known as Woolies) will work with groups of 25-35 new students to engage in Welcome Week events while also helping to coordinate the logistics of hosting Welcome Week.
All events, groups, organizations, and centers are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
