           UMBC's campus-on-a-hill as a person with a disability brings out overt 
          and sometimes more subtle features of its accessible design.  Join us to
           learn more during Disability Employment Awareness Month and discuss: </span></div><div><br></div><div>What are the features? <a href="https://accessibility.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">We</a> <a href="https://sds.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">have</a> <a href="https://about.umbc.edu/files/2019/08/accessible-map-8-30-19.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">many</a>,
           including a Skywalk and several upgrades that happened while we were 
          remote, and more on the way (work on the Math/Psych elevator update  has
           already begun!)</div><div><br></div><div>What are the bugs?  Learn more about how work with situations, whether it's contacting <a href="https://fm.umbc.edu/work-request/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Work Control for a repair</a> (410-455-2550), <a href="https://accessibility.umbc.edu/report-campus-accessibility-concern/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">reporting an accessibility concern</a>, or working with campus partners, such as Facilities Management  and <a href="https://accessibility.umbc.edu/digital-content-accessibility/website-accessibility-at-umbc/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">DoIT</a> to support inclusion.  Accessibility is everyone's responsibility.</div><div><br></div><div>We
           will gather at the Walter Sondheim statue seating area (if the weather 
          is challenging we can gather inside Sondheim Hall)- learn the skywalk 
          and tunnel connections within the Academic Core, review Adaptive 
          Computing within the Library, and visit the reception area of Retriever 
          Integrated Health - which supports both physical and mental health.  The
           tour is limited to a small group, and please know that  mask use is 
          VERY WELCOME.</div><div><br></div><div>Can't make the

    <div class="html-content"><p><strong>Applications for the '23-'24 MLE Cohort can be found <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRf1jYuZb-4r6pHuwFRl1uDsv70D7t7-UeaQGyQTBG_sZLLA/viewform?usp=sf_link" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">HERE</a>. </strong></p><p><strong>The Multicultural Leadership Experience (MLE) is a collaboration between Campus Life and Initiatives for Identity Inclusion &amp; Belonging (i3B), that seeks to: </strong></p><p><strong>Engage participants in a multicultural development and leadership learning program; <br>Enhance participants' understanding of their social identities, leader identity, as well as their capacity to lead; <br>And enable participants' development through authenticity, self-awareness, relationships, and capitalizing on difference. </strong></p><div><strong><br></strong></div><div><span><div>The sessions are as follows:<div> </div></div><div>- Monday, October 2nd, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, October 23rd, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, November 6th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, November 20th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, December 4th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, February 5th, 2024, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- <em>No March Meeting</em></div><div>- Monday, April 8th, 2024, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, May 6th, 2024, 3pm - 5:30pm (The Skylight Lounge)</div><div> </div><div>***All sessions will take place in The Commons Lower Flat Tuesdays minus the last meeting in May***</div><div><br></div><div><div>Participants will be exploring the concept of Authentic Leadership, Legacy Building, and Breaking Barriers of White Supremacy within Leadership. We will do this in a leadership learning cohort by: </div><ul><li>Enhancing participants' leader identity and leadership capacity using an identity-conscious lens and student development theories;</li><li>Increasing participants' awareness of their personal abilities, identity development, and intersections that shape their story through authenticity, self-reflection, and cultural humility;</li><li>Exploring the role they play in developing relationships while building intra/intercultural connections; </li><li>And capitalizing on their differences, specifically in relation to their racial, ethnic, national, and other salient identity social groups</li></ul><div> </div><div>The purpose of all MLE programs is to provide a space for students and student leaders who identify within diverse or marginalized backgrounds to discover their own capacity to lead, while also promoting a better understanding of their experiences, issues, strengths, and outcomes in navigating their own collegiate careers. A significant portion of my time is spent engaging with stakeholders, which includes discussing data requirements, understanding their analytical needs, and presenting insights derived from data analysis.</div><div><br></div><div>In addition to stakeholder interactions, I dedicate time to learning and skill development. This involves staying updated with the latest data analysis techniques, tools, and healthcare trends. I continuously work on enhancing my proficiency in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data visualization.</div><div><br></div><div>My core duties as a Data Analyst revolve around handling and processing large datasets related to public health. This entails data cleaning, transformation, and preparation for analysis. I conduct statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data, which can provide valuable insights for decision-makers.</div><div><br></div><div>Furthermore, I contribute to creating reports and dashboards that effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. When chosen, I received an official offer letter outlining the terms of the internship, including the duration, compensation, and any specific requirements. All of the articles published in the UMBC Review go through a rigorous peer review process. The Review is indebted to the anonymous off-campus faculty reviewers who volunteer their time to assure the high quality of our publication. We are proud to produce the publication in print format.</p><p>Submissions for the 25th edition are being accepted through 9/22. We invite researchers of all disciplines to submit their work to our journal. The Review offers a rewarding opportunity to get your undergraduate research published in a peer-reviewed academic journal, improve your writing, and add to your resume!</p><p>Publish your research from a summer REU, capstone, honors thesis, or other independent work.           9/18/2023 between 7 AM and 2 PM, a section of sidewalk between The Quad 
          and The Commons terrace will be temporarily closed to complete site 
          survey work related to the upcoming renovation of Lecture Hall 1. 
          Signage will redirect pedestrians to an accessible route through The 
          Quad. Please refer to the attached graphic for additional information.</em><div><em><br></em></div><div><em>An
           additional work area will also be located outside The Commons courtyard
           entrance, but no accessible paths will be impacted at this location.</em><br></div><div><em><br></em></div><div><em>Accessibility
