As we prepare to welcome students and employees back to campus for a new academic year, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on our shared goals, values, and commitment to each other, and to reaffirm UMBC’s commitment to inclusive excellence.

UMBC is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the campus community and recognizes its responsibility to support an environment that is free from discrimination and bias, including sexual harassment, interpersonal violence, and related misconduct. UMBC values safety; diversity of thought, background and ability; social responsibility; lifelong learning; equity; and civic engagement. Consistent with these principles, UMBC does not discriminate in offering equal access to its educational programs and activities.

UMBC’s Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is responsible for promoting and supporting the University’s core values of inclusive excellence and equity, and has primary responsibility for managing UMBC’s efforts related to Title IX and civil rights issues, including discrimination, harassment, hate, and bias.

OEI’s work requires the active engagement of campus partners and each member of the UMBC community to reduce harm as we continue to build a caring, equitable, and inclusive community. OEI also engages the campus community via the Inclusion Council, a group consisting of students, faculty, staff, and alumni that advises OEI and provides a venue to discuss relevant issues. Women's Center Fall 2021 Hours of Operation:

Beginning on the first day of classes, the Women's Center will resume our traditional in-person hours of operation and will welcome community members into our physical space.

In order to maintain physical distancing, the lounge space will be operating at 50% capacity. Masks are required to be in our space.

Our Fall Hours are:

Mondays through Thursdays: 10am - 5:30pm

Fridays: 10am - 4pm

Finally, you can experience our new comfy couches! Our usual plates/mugs/utensils will not be available so please bring your own if you plan on drinking or eating in the space.

While we are physically open, the Women's Center will also continue to provide support and services virtually Monday through Friday to those who are learning and working remotely. We encourage campus community members to contact us through email at womenscenter@umbc.edu or via phone at 410-455-2714.

Students: The 2021-22 annual mandatory training has been assigned to all UMBC students and must be completed by September 30, 2021.

A registration hold may be placed on your account if you fail to complete the training.

The Digital Media Lab is excited to reopen on Monday, August 30, 2021. Our services will look a little different because of the pandemic, so here is a brief rundown of what to expect.

We are only open on weekdays from 12 to 4 PM
The Whisper Room is unavailable until further notice
The A/V Room has a limited capacity of two (2) people

Individuals may use this room to record audio in lieu of the booth

Three Mac computers and a flatbed scanner will be available

We have limited the maximum capacity in the DML to seven (7) people, including the desk attendant, to encourage social distancing. Please space yourselves if you are waiting to check out equipment and do not crowd into the room. We encourage everyone to visit our website for details about available equipment before visiting. Remember that you must present your UMBC card in order to borrow anything.

Our room reservation system is again active and you can reserve the A/V Room for up to two hours per day (link).

Registration is now open for the fall 2021 Leadership Blueprint program! Leadership Blueprint is a program that helps first year, sophomore, and new transfer students learn how to craft a more fulfilling college experience by sharing practical design thinking tools and ideas, while relating them back to their leadership and involvement plans for UMBC. However, all students are welcome to apply!

Topics include exploring your interests, finding your place at UMBC, designing plans for your leadership and involvement experience, and much more. This seminar incorporates small group discussion, activities, guest speakers, and personal reflection.

There are three different cohort meetings to choose from starting the week of October 5th, 2021 and ending the week of November 2nd, 2021:
