2019-2020 Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign

The UMBC 2019-2020 Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign is now underway. Last fiscal year, 261 faculty and staff members made gifts to the UMBC Foundation. This fiscal year the goal is to have 300 faculty and staff members donate to the program or area at UMBC that inspires them the most.

As of today, more than $123 million has been raised towards our $150 million goal for Grit & Greatness: The Campaign for UMBC. Our progress would not be possible without faculty and staff members like you.

There are a couple of ways you can give to the 2019-2020 Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign:

In just three easy steps, you can make a gift via payroll deduction at usmd.edu/give. This is the second year that giving via payroll deduction is done completely online. Through this digital process, you are now able to make ongoing/never-ending payroll deductions, easily change your giving amount and/or designations, and track your giving online.

If you prefer, you can also make a one-time or recurring credit card gift today by clicking here.

No matter the size, every contribution counts in Grit & Greatness: The Campaign for UMBC. You decide the amount and where you want to designate your gift. Just remember, you are not able to contribute to a fund for which you are also a signer on the account. In those cases, we kindly ask that you select another designation where you can make an impact.

Thank you, in advance, for your continued support and unwavering generosity.

Sincerely,

Greg Simmons '04

Vice President for Institutional Advancement

P.S. Thank you for your commitment to UMBC and for supporting this great institution. I know when we reach together, we will meet this year’s goal of having 300 faculty and staff donors.

P.P.S. If you choose to give via payroll deduction, follow these three steps to do so on the usmd.edu/give website: 1) Click the “Get Started” button; 2) Click on the UMBC logo; 3) Select the UMBC yellow “Click here to begin a new payroll deduction” button.

All funds raised are administered by the UMBC Foundation for the benefit of UMBC.

The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship
Innovation and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors and
rewards of entrepreneurship and social innovation. This program places
highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds in mentored
internships to better prepare them to launch nonprofit or social
ventures. Students get training and experience to empower them to become
the next generation of social entrepreneurs–working largely in the
not-for-profit world, developing and delivering innovative solutions to
some of our region’s most urgent social problems.

Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work, on
average, 8 to 10 hours per week. Students receive a stipend of $1,500
toward their compensation. In addition to the internship, students
engage in projects and activities that further expose them to the social
     entrepreneurial mindset.

    Why Participate?
- Earn a competitive stipend of $1,500
- Gain valuable experience in your career field by interning 120 hours over the course of the semester (8-10 hours per week)
- Be exposed to the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to successfully launch and manage a nonprofit/social venture
- Develop a network of contacts in the nonprofit community for future references and opportunities
- Apply classroom knowledge in a realistic work environment and apply lessons learned in the workplace to academic coursework

TO APPLY:
Interested students are asked to submit a Resume and a Cover Letter answering the following questions:
Discuss your interest in social entrepreneurship/nonprofit leadership
