What does it mean to be a man? When and how did you learn to become a man? 
What do you enjoy about being a man? What do you wish was different?


 

Explore these questions and more through M2M: The Men’s Initiative. In a safe space you will discuss gender roles, norms/variations, and build a healthy, multifaceted masculinity with other UMBC men. Through the facilitation of UMBC male staff members, you will discuss topics related to being a man parallel to other important social identities and explore ways you can be an effective ally for yourself and others.


 

M2M is a 10-week commitment. The group will meet once a week on Wednesdays from 9:45am-10:50am beginning September 12th.  Group members are expected to make all meetings. 


Applications are due September 7th. Students will be accepted on a rolling basis.

If you are interested in finding a good match with a position in the Executive Branch, complete this form (there's no deadline, but sooner is better).

If you are interested in applying for one of the vacant positions on SGA's Senate and Finance Board, complete this form by Monday, August 6th.

No experience is required for any of these positions.  You'll receive all the training and information you'll need.

This week’s Huffington Post article “Owning Yes We Can” highlights the inspiring work of UMBC’s Student Government Association (SGA), which the authors call “a national model…of student organizing and empowerment.” They focus on SGA’s successful effort this spring to organize student opposition to state budget cuts that would have led to a dramatic tuition increase.

“Many would not have been able to stay in school with 15-20 percent increases in tuition expenses,” explained SGA member Meghan Carpenter. “I am so proud of what students from different organizations were able to start. We showed that students can make a change not just at our college, but in our state.”
