New Interface for DUO Multi-factor Authentication

<Tagline>Tuesday August 15th the DUO login interface will be changing</Tagline>

Over the past six months, we have successfully enrolled our students into Duo, giving them the same added protection of multi-factor authentication as faculty and staff. I can't thank everyone enough for how smooth a transition this has been. The support from faculty and staff and students helping with communications, outreach, and providing feedback made it possible for us to do this successfully in a short time period.

On August 15th we are upgrading our Duo login page to their new interface. Duo is calling this new interface their Universal Prompt and it looks like this:

This simplified new Duo experience will help you log in to your applications faster than before. Everything will work the same as with the previous prompt, but with a different look and feel.

One change is that instead of being asked to remember your device for 30 days, after successfully logging in you will now be asked if you are logging in from your own device.

This feature will help cut down the number of times you need to use Duo, but this should only be done on devices that you own and have full control over, never on a public device or one that is being shared.

For more information and a preview of the new look and feel, please see our FAQ about the new Duo Universal Prompt.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Technology Support Center by opening a ticket at rt.umbc.edu or by calling 410-455-3838.

You can also reach out to me directly with any concerns; my contact information is below.

Thank you all again for helping to keep the campus community secure.
