In partnership with The Associated's Insight Israel Forum and Resetting the Table, we are offering a 3 part mini series for UMBC students this fall semester. Participants will be trained in constructive communication skills and together explore the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a dual narratives approach. The program is open to people of all backgrounds, experiences, and knowledge levels—incoming freshmen and transfers included!

Meetings will take place during free hour on Fridays 9/24, 10/1, and 10/8 at 2 PM, lasting between 2–2.5 hours (currently unsure if in person or virtually). If you're interested in joining us, please fill out our non-binding application!

Enhance your resume, teamwork and leadership skills in a workshop from the premier business methodology used by Fortune 500 companies.

Part 1 of the workshop will be conducted online.  You will need to attend one of the following sessions:

Tuesday, Aug 31, 4:00 - 5:00 pm

Wednesday, Sept 1, 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Tuesday, Sept 7, 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Part 2 of the workshop will occur in-person at UMBC the Biological Sciences Building, BIO 120.  Once you have completed an online session, you must attend ONE of the following in-person sessions to complete the certification:

Friday, September 10, 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Friday, September 10, 3:15 - 4:15 pm

Once you register for Part 1, a link will be shared to view the presentation. A second link will be shared during the presentation to register for Part 2 (the in-person portion)

Participants will be required to follow UMBC social distance and mask wearing protocols. Certificates will be distributed to students onsite following completion of the four modules.

Verify Your COVID-19 Vaccination ASAP

• This week we awarded our Vaccinate. Verify. WIN! student grand prize, a $500 scholarship, to a senior computer engineering major; and our faculty/staff grand prize, a free parking pass, to a Student Affairs staff member. Congratulations to all the winners during this incentive program and thank you to everyone who has verified their vaccination.

• Reminder: The deadline for commuting students to report their vaccines is August 20. Residential students received an earlier deadline to ensure they could move in. Report your vaccination ASAP. 

Employees: Look for New Electronic Timesheet Reporting Fields

• Starting on August 15, 2021, employees will notice new reporting fields for work locations and schedules on electronic timesheets. More details here.

Reminder: Fall 2021 Employee Parking Permits

• Faculty and Staff: Don’t forget to complete your Payroll Deduction/Parking Registration Form for the 2021-2022 academic year no later than August 13. Parking permits are required beginning on August 31. More information here.

Give a round of applause to our Summer 2021 Online Leadership Challenge winner: SHAWN RILL!!! Shawn is a senior majoring in Social Work and minoring in Philosophy.

He has this to say about the challenge: 

“I learned that I want to make connecting with others more of a priority in my life, i.e., networking, being involved in groups, volunteering, and overall social activities. I realized that while my values support various college-related activities, I would like to change my top values to better align with my goals; a process that I am undertaking now. I also considered how much time I actually self-reflect and use for mindfulness and would like to spend more time being present, aware, and reflective. All three things would play out in my daily life, both on and off campus, to help others.”
