<Title>Intern of the Week: Abhishek Mahindrakar for Info. Systems!</Title>
<Tagline>Check out his summer internship with Equifax</Tagline>

          <div class="html-content"><p><strong><span>Name: </span></strong><span>Abhishek Mahindrakar</span><span></span></p>

          <p><strong><span>Position Title:</span></strong><span> DevOps
          Automation Intern</span><span></span></p>

          <p><strong><span>Major(s)/Minor(s): </span></strong><span>Information
          Systems, Master’s Student</span><span></span></p>

          <p><strong><span>Work Term: </span></strong><span>Summer
          2019 </span><span></span></p>

<p><strong><em><span>Tell us about your internship, co-op, or research opportunity, including
          your day-to-day responsibilities.</span></em></strong><span></span></p>

<p><span>I joined Equifax as DevOps Automation Intern and my daily
responsibilities were working on tools like Jenkins, Tableau, Hygieia, and ELK
stack. On a day-to-day basis, I was given the task of creating automation
scripts and orchestrating tasks on Jenkins. Then, I was responsible for
visualizing the results of all the jobs on dashboards like Tableau, Hygieia or
Kibana. My job role also included creating scripts in Groovy and Python to draw
data from servers and publish it on Jenkins which can be further published onto
ELK stack for visualizations. This internship gave me great exposure to a lot
of tools and technologies which not only helped me build my knowledge of all
the latest tools being used in the professional world but will also help me
better my resume for future endeavors. </span><span></span></p>

<p><strong><em><span>Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of
the position and submit your application?</span></em></strong><span></span></p>

<p><span>I applied online for the internship position at
Equifax and received a call from HR to set up a technical interview. There were
two rounds of technical interviews which were set up on Zoom. A week after the
final round, I received an email from HR that they had concluded the process
and hired me for the internship position. The process was very smooth and in
less than 3 weeks I received the offer letter.</span><span></span></p>

<p><strong><em><span>What have you enjoyed the most about your position or
          organization? </span></em></strong><span></span></p>

<p><span>I got great exposure to a lot of tools and also a
great experience working in a professional environment. </span><span></span></p>

<p><strong><em><span>How do you believe you have made an impact through your work?</span></em></strong><span></span></p>

<p><span>Equifax is a credit bureau and it works on customer
records and their credit history. I was a part of the CI/CD team which is the
continuous integration and continuous deployment team. Various teams work on
various tools like Nexus, Rundeck, Sonar, etc. Our job was to combine all these
tools for different teams and create a common platform where all the teams
could collaborate their work and create results as an alliance which would help
the people higher in hierarchy to analyze and view results. </span><span></span></p>

<p><strong><em><span>What advice would you give to another student who is seeking an
          internship or similar experience? </span></em></strong><span></span></p>

<p><span>My advice would be to stick to your domain and field of interest. Get an
internship in the field similar to your interest and build your profile
accordingly. Also, connect with as many people as possible to increase your
contacts and know your company better. Additionally, the Career Center was of
great help initially in creating my resume for open internship positions.
Career events and the “Intern Like a Pro” practicum that is organized by Career
Center were of great help to track my internship development.</span><span></span></p>
