The World Trade Center Institute (WTCI) launched its newest professional development program for college students, Global Pathways for Students (GPS).  At this time, WTCI is looking for additional UMBC applicants to apply ASAP.  

The deadline has been extended to Friday, April 26th.

Partially funded by visionary founder and former McCormick & Co. executive Jim Albrecht, GPS aims to connect 25 globally-minded college students to international corporations in the region. 

Students should be goal-oriented, professional, open-minded and have a passion for global work.

The GPS Program is designed to prepare Maryland college students for the competitive job market upon graduating. By leveraging our vast regional network, 25 top students from various universities around the region will have the opportunity to get their foot in the door of nine different globally-minded companies, jumpstarting their professional network. Concurrently, this cohort of students, deemed Albrecht Fellows, will strengthen their professional skills through a series of supplemental development workshops.
By participating in GPS, Albrecht Fellows enhance their network and global knowledge, become more marketable, and increase their likelihood of being hired upon graduation.
 
Candidate Pre-requisites:
·         Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior
·         Must be able to participate in full 10-day program, from Wednesday, May 29th to Friday, June 7th
·         Program fee of $250 (Need-based scholarships are available)

Our hearts are heavy as we see the devastating impact of terror attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter morning that left 300 innocent people dead and injured 500 more. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, the first responders, the Sri Lankan community here at UMBC, and all who have been affected by the attacks targeting worshippers in churches as well as guests and staff in hotels serving international visitors.

We are also aware that many of us continue to be unsettled by previous acts of violence in our state, the nation, and across the world. The most powerful response to this violence is deepening our own humanity by seeking to understand diverse experiences and honoring the benefits such differences bring to our campus and to the world.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, the first responders, the Sri Lankan community here at UMBC, and all who have been affected by the attacks targeting worshippers in churches as well as guests and staff in hotels serving international visitors.

We are also aware that many of us continue to be unsettled by previous acts of violence in our state, the nation, and across the world. The most powerful response to this violence is deepening our own humanity by seeking to understand diverse experiences and honoring the benefits such differences bring to our campus and to the world. 

Community members seeking to explore these issues either personally or in community are encouraged to contact International Education Services at 410-455-2624, the Mosaic at 410-455-2686, or the UMBC Counseling Center at 410-455-2472. 

We encourage the community to join the Sri Lankan Student Association in a vigil to commemorate the lives of those lost in the tragedy on April 21st. It will take place tomorrow, April 23 at 8:00 pm on Erickson Field.
