    <div class="html-content"><span>IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE INTERN POSITION BELOW, PLEASE APPLY TO INTERN POSITION </span>(9251072) <span>ON UMBCworks</span><br>Questions?: Contact Christine Routzahn, Director of Internships at The Shriver Center at UMBC at <a href="mailto:routzahn@umbc.edu">routzahn@umbc.edu</a><br><br>The U.S. Census Bureau is currently hiring Computer Scientists for the Innovation Technology Office to develop corporate solutions in the area of multi-mode data collection and geospatial technology. We are continuously developing new software applications for an extensive list of large censuses and surveys. Work has included the 2002 and 2007 Economic Census, 2007 Census of Agriculture, American Community Survey (2007 to present), 2009 Kenya Population and Housing Census and 2011 Bangladesh Census.  These projects used questionnaire scanning and image based optical mark recognition and optical character recognition. They required data capture of over 56 million questionnaires from over 172 million scanned images. In 2013 we will be processing the Economic Census and Census of Agriculture. Future work includes application software prototype development for the 2020 Census and numerous within census and inter-government agencies. Current work in developing new geospatial data analysis applications are being done to promote better analysis of existing census and survey data as well as real time monitoring of future project production processing. Open source software languages, databases and operating systems provide much of the framework for this work.<br><br>Team-centric applicants should have but not limited to the following skill sets and abilities:<br>•    transform abstract ideas to create innovative applications and systems <br>•    engineer complex systems to capture, manipulate, transform, or present information<br>•    use open source languages, databases and operating systems<br>•    apply theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software to develop solutions for processing and analyzing large censuses and surveys<br>•    coordinate the construction, maintenance, and expansion of an organization's computer systems<br>•    responsible for the design and implementation of computer assisted data capture systems and data quality management<br>•    incorporate many aspects of computer design, the creation of individual components for computer equipment, networking design, and integrating software options with the hardware that will drive the applications<br>•    work experience and knowledge of Windows 7, Windows XP, Linux, MySQL, APACHE, java, php, and PostGRES<br>•    ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to improve complex data processing and analysis<br><br><span>* * All Positions REQUIRE U.S. Citizenship</span><br><br><span>Dress Code:</span><br>The Census Bureau has a business casual dress code.  It is not necessary to wear a suit.  However, an intern should dress professionally.  <br><br><span>Leave:</span><br>- An intern can earn annual and sick leave while working full-time at a rate of four (4) hours per pay period <br>- An intern can earn annual and sick leave while working part-time at a rate of one hour for each twenty (20) hours in a pay status per pay period.<br><br><span>Work Schedules:</span><br>- Full-time is 40 hours a week <br>- Part time requires at least 16 hours a week <br>- Intermittent work schedules allow an intern to work less than 16 hours per week.  <br><br><span>Salary:</span><br>- Your salary is based on education and the information that you provided in your application.  The amount of credits you have earned and the type of degree you are pursuing determines your salary.  See Handout below along with the following <a href="http://www.opm.gov/oca/12tables/html/dcb_h.asp" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>LINK</span></a>.<br></div>

    Harbor! The Flying Fruit Fantasy stand is the on-the-job training site for The
    Choice Ready By 21 Jobs Program. We have hired young people between the ages of
    14-21 to work our stand, and are looking for bright, eager, dedicated college
    students to manage and mentor these young people as they complete their
    YouthWorks paid summer job training. The Flying Fruit Fantasy Stand has been in
    Camden Yards at Oriole Park for over 20 years, serving customers fruitshakes
    and offering the youth of Baltimore a place to start their vocational path. We
    are delighted to expand our Flying Fruit Fantasy Stand, and our on-the-job
    training model to the Inner Harbor to serve even more Baltimore residents our
    delicious fruitshakes. And we are expanding the menu, to include grilled cheese
    sandwiches and frozen yogurt at our new location! Potential interns should be
    passionate about Baltimore City, and working with youth from at-risk
    environments.

    make sure they match up after shifts/cash register switches. </p>

     Careers In Transportation for Youth (CITY) Internship Program was 
    created to attract the best and brightest talent to the public 
    transportation industry. This internship program supports the Federal 
    Transit Administration's (FTA) initiative to promote public 
    transportation career opportunities among underrepresented college 
    students. This initiative will orient students to the public 
    transportation industry by providing internships and mentoring at 
    transit agencies, private transit-related consulting firms, 
    transportation service providers, manufacturers and suppliers. <br><br>COMTO,
     along with its local partners, recruits one to six (1-6) students for 
    each of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; 
    Philadelphia, PA; and Washington, DC. The selected chapters will host 
    interns for ten (10) weeks (June 4, 2012 to August 10, 2012). During 
    this time, interns will also travel to Denver, CO for the 41st National 
    Meeting and Training Conference. The application deadline for the CITY 
    Internship Program is Friday, April 27, 2012. If you would like more

        in Production Management for the Olney Theatre Center is available for 2012-2013. Located
        in the Washington, DC theatre community, this internship is a great opportunity for anyone
        interested in arts administration, specifically union relations, budgets, and
        other aspects of producing. Duties include generating weekly payroll,
        assembling contract packets for guest artists, and tracking expenses for the
        production department. On-campus housing and a weekly stipend is provided.</span></p>
        
        
        
        <p><span>The ideal candidate would be proficient in Microsoft Excel,
        Access, and Word, have knowledge of financial terms, have a great sense of
        humor, be able to roll with the punches, and have a passion for theatre. If you
