Breaking news: After an exhaustive search, the UMBC McNair Scholars Program is excited to announce the selection and hiring of our new full-time Program Coordinator, Antoinette Newsome, who will join us officially on December 11th. Antoinette is a proud alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). During her time at UNC, Antoinette was a participant in the McNair Scholars Program and completed a qualitative assessment on The Minority Male Bridge to Success Program. After UNC, Antoinette attended Bowling Green State University for her Masters in College Student Personnel, where she served as the Graduate Assistant for TRiO Programs. She is coming to us from Towson University, where she served as a Residence Life Coordinator for over four years. As a practitioner, Antoinette is passionate about social justice and equity-based work, along with focusing on supporting low-income first-generation college students. She is currently a first-year student in the Ph.D. program in Student Affairs at the University of Maryland, College Park. We are thrilled to welcome Antoinette to the UMBC family as she is already part of the TRiO and McNair family! UMBC #umbcmcnair #umbc #trioworks #trio
