Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs Conference

<Tagline>March, DC, free sessions for students</Tagline>

From our collegues at AMCHP:

The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is the national membership association for state and jurisdictional governmental public health leaders working to advance and protect maternal and child health across the country. Each year, our Annual Conference brings together leaders, practitioners, partners, and emerging professionals working across maternal health, early childhood, adolescent health, disability, and children with special health care needs.

As part of the 2026 AMCHP Annual Conference (March 7–10, Washington, DC), we are offering a set of skills-building sessions designed in direct response to needs we're hearing across the field. One of these sessions, Maternal Health Data 101, will take place the morning of March 7 and is especially well suited for students with an interest in domestic maternal health. This three-hour, beginner-friendly session introduces the maternal health data sources shaping public dialogue and debate, while also helping participants understand what those data do not capture. Importantly, this is not a technical training for epidemiologists or data analysts. Rather, it is designed for anyone seeking to feel grounded in U.S. maternal health data and more confident participating in conversations about how data inform policy, programs, partnerships, and narrative change. Participants will learn how to place data within broader systems and community contexts and explore how data can be used responsibly to move knowledge into action.

We would be grateful if you would share this opportunity with your students. Access to the full day of skills-building sessions on March 7 is $75, and a full agenda and link to register is available here. The flyer attached to this email provides information on all skills-building opportunities and how to register for these session only. Students are also warmly invited to attend the broader conference, and we encourage institutions to consider sponsoring student participation where possible. For students who may not have financial support, AMCHP also offers volunteer opportunities that provide access to conference programming as schedules allow.

If you or your students have questions and/or would like to sign up to volunteer, please feel free direct them to reach out to me (Kameron Jones) at krjones@amchp.org.

We are currently accepting applications for the Summer Research Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Our 10-week intensive undergraduate Summer Research Program provides a unique chance for students to delve into cutting-edge research within our state-of-the-art facilities while gaining a valuable preview of graduate school life at a Big Ten institution. The majority of our Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) and Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEUs) are generously funded by organizations like the NSF or USDA NIFA, ensuring an enriching experience for participants. By joining, students not only enhance their academic resumes but also forge meaningful connections with faculty and peers. Engaging in social and professional development activities further contribute to a holistic experience, all complemented by amazing benefits.
