          <p><strong><span>Applications now

          <p><span>The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (MHHD or
          Office) within the Maryland Department of Health welcomes interns, volunteers,
          fellows, those seeking job shadowing experience, and other interested parties
          to participate in MHHD’s Health Equity Internship Program. </span><span></span></p>
          
          <p><span>MHHD internship opportunities support MHHD’s goal of building
          the capacity of the public health workforce to effectively advance health
          equity.  MHHD is committed to providing interns with a meaningful learning
          experience within our Office, as well as with our partners. </span></p>
          
          <p><span>Internships are typically for three-month periods, for a </span><span>minimum of 10 hours per
          week.  Interns typically work on one to two main projects and assist
          on smaller project as they come up.  Recent intern projects have included: 
          grant management for the </span><span>Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) </span><span>project, planning for
          the </span><span>Health
          Equity Conference</span><span>, planning for COVID-19 vaccine distribution, assisting with a
          grant writing training series, and updating the </span><span>Office’s data chart book</span><span>. </span><span></span></p>

    <div><span>Recent news about the approval of a COVID-19 vaccine offers great hope for overcoming the coronavirus pandemic. However, until a vaccine is widely available to the public, it is critical that people avoid “pandemic fatigue” and recommit themselves to sound public health practices.</span></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><span>The USM COVID Research &amp; Innovation Task Force has launched the Public Health Challenge to seek out engaging and effective public health messaging that promotes continued vigilance and compliance with public health guidelines, while also encouraging people to get vaccinated once they are able to do so.</span></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><span>For this competition, the Task Force invites participants to create and submit entries in the following categories:</span></div>

    <ol>
    <li>Live action or animated videos up to one minute in length.</li>
    <li>A designed non-video social messaging campaign of at least three original digital images</li>

    <div>The University of Michigan School of Public Health in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) offers a public health pipeline program for college students. The Univeristy of Michigan Future Public Health Leaders Program (Michigan FPHLP) provides students with field placements, skill building workshops, and mentorship. FPHLP is designed to offer stimulating opportunities for awareness, learning, and growth in public health. The ultimate goal of the program is to increase the diversity of the public health workforce and the people committed to reducing health disparities. </div>

    <div><u>FPHLP LEARNING OBJECTIVES </u></div>
    <div><br></div>

    <ul>
    <li>Promote and introduce public health careers to college students. </li>
    <li>Strengthen and broaden leadership for addressing health equity. </li>
    <li>Increase awareness of health disparities and its impact on the nation. </li>
    <li>Build practical experiences to enhance the students' professional credentials.</li>
    <li>Develop a baseline understanding of the political, social, and cultural context within which public health activities are conducted. </li>

    <p><strong><span>SUMMARY:</span></strong><span>   Provides support in the areas of recruitment,
    marketing, employee relations and operations for Medical Staff Services
    specific to Erickson Health Medical Group and Employee Health and Wellness.</span></p>
    <p><span><br></span></p>
    <p><strong><span>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: </span></strong><span>include the following.

    <p><strong><span>Recruitment </span></strong></p>
    <p><span>1.<span>       </span></span><span>Serves as the primary recruiter for Corporate/Community
    positions (EHMG/EHWC).</span></p>
    <p><span>2.<span>       </span></span><span>Writes and posts positions internally and externally.</span></p>
    <p><span>3.<span>       </span></span><span>Independently attends recruitment related meetings/activities.   </span></p>
    <p><span>4.<span>       </span></span><span>Identifies and recommends sourcing opportunities for
    prospective candidates.</span></p>
    <p><span>5.<span>       </span></span><span>Ensures positions are posted on job boards and easily
    accessed by applicants.</span></p>
    <p><span>6.<span>       </span></span><span>Fields questions regarding employment. </span></p>
    <p><span>7.<span>       </span></span><span>Dispositions candidates in the applicant tracking
    system to ensure current activity is reflected.</span></p>
    <p><span>8.<span>       </span></span><span>Assists with onsite interview facilitation with
    appropriate teams </span></p>
    <p><span>9.<span>       </span></span><span>Partnership with Community HR to ensure that reference
    checks and background screenings facilitated.

    <p><span>10.<span>   </span></span><span>Partnership with Corporate / Community HR to
    effectively hire/onboard each new hire, communicating with the new hire throughout
    the process to ensure quality onboarding. </span></p>
    <p><span>11.<span>   </span></span><span>Ensures new hire paperwork is accurate and timely,
    scanned into shared drive, etc.  </span></p>
    <p><span>12.<span>   </span></span><span>Assists with employee 
    hires (Workday) for appropriate system interface.</span></p>

    EHMG Orientation Tool for recruitment specific activity </span></p>
