Rear Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N, Acting Surgeon General for U.S. Public Health Services, has been awarded the Red Cross Florence Nightingale Medal for her work in disaster and public health.
On October 5, 2017, Rear Admiral Trent-Adams was recognized at the UMBC 2017 Alumni Awards ceremony as the Outstanding Alumni in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is a 2006 graduate of the UMBC Public Policy doctoral program in the health policy concentration.
