The journal American Behavioral Scientist published a new article by Professor Susan Sterett, director of the School of Public Policy. Since data access is a way of regulating research practices, Prof. Sterett borrows from research on the conditions required to make regulation work in the article “Data Access as Regulation." Effective regulation requires trust, and a collaborative focus on goals rather than compliance with rules. Both conditions can be difficult to meet. The article is available online here.
