Position Title: Community Engagement Intern
Position Type: Part-time, Undergraduate
General Description: The Community Engagement Intern works with the Residential Education and Leadership Coordinator to create opportunities for resident-led community engagement. The Intern will assist with the development and implementation of the Residence Life Student-Led Initiative program and will work collaboratively with Community Councils to increase student engagement and collaboration within residential areas and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate marketing and application process for the Student-Led Initiative program
- Assist in the development of collaborative programming initiatives with campus partners, including, but not limited to, student organizations
- Serve as chair for the Community Involvement Committee to support large-scale social and weekend initiatives
- Assist with marketing and promotion for the Residential Curriculum. This may include, but is not limited to, Move-In/Move-Out, Orientation, Homecoming, and other campus-wide strategies
- Support and encourage student leaders in the development of an effective Community Council
- Support Resident Assistants serving as Community Council Liaisons
- Assist with training and leadership development for the Community Council Leaders throughout the academic year
- Serve as a resource for the Community Council in the planning and implementation of strategies and events for the residential community.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Must exhibit good written & verbal communication skills
● Must have proactive work habits
● Must be committed to being a role model and making a positive impact on the UMBC community
● Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and may not be on conduct probation
● Must be willing to work for the entire semester for at least 8 hours/week
● Must be a full-time, matriculating student at UMBC
● Must be able to commit to 2 academic semesters (preferred, Fall and Spring semesters)
