Children’s book using a common joke to help stop bullying! A former UMBC student, Shaun Johnson (aka Es Kay Johns) wrote and illustrated a children's book.  It is currently on Kickstarter right now trying to find funding.

Why Was Six Afraid of Seven? was created to help prevent issues that children may face on a daily basis, and from my experience, one of the best ice breakers is to open with a joke!

The message that kids will receive from this book is that bullying is wrong and that there are better ways to solve problems and avoid embarrassing situations. The story presents kids with two different bullying scenarios, a verbal and a physical one, through which both situations are worked out by verbal mediation.

Ball like Lincoln!! Hello, I am Dustin Linz, captain of a new vintage baseball team, The Ellicott's Mills Surveyors. We are looking forward to our upcoming inaugural season that will begin in May. We have a full roster, but are always looking for new people to play with, and we could use volunteers to dress in period clothing and to communicate the rules with the fans, keep score, etc. We will play our home games at the VFW in Ellicott City. We currently have 11 games scheduled for this year. 

No skill is required to play, and either gender is welcome to participate. Do not feel self conscious about your skill level, because we play for fun and to educate the public about how our country's favorite sport has evolved.
