All residential communities close on Wednesday, November 25 at 8 p.m.  Residential students are expected to move all of their belongings before or by closing. (Walker Avenue Residents do not need to vacate at Thanksgiving Break). Due to our efforts to maintain social distancing in the halls as families arrive to assist with move-out, we will not be able to facilitate the move-out of all students on one day.

Residential Life released a two-minute survey on Friday, September 25, to students and families. This data will assist in our planning as we schedule students to move out leading up to and by November 25.  

Students will receive an email by or on October 25 with further instructions for their move-out.  Thank you for your patience and attention to residential closing processes.

Welcome to the fall 2020 semester at UMBC! We’re excited to welcome you back even though these extraordinary times create unique challenges for many of us. We want to provide you with information about how to protect yourself, support the health and safety of our campus community, and reduce the risk of spread of COVID-19 at UMBC and beyond. We also write to share UMBC’s community expectations during the transition back to campus.

All students who will be attending face-to-face classes and/or living or working on campus this fall are required to complete the Return to Campus COVID Awareness training by August 27, 2020. To access the training, please use the following instructions:

• Log in to your UMBC Blackboard site.
• Select the “Organizations” section located on the left side of your screen.
• Select the training “Return to Campus COVID Awareness.”
• Select Module 1 to begin the training.
• This training does not have to be completed in one sitting; however, you must complete all five training modules.

If you are having any issues accessing the training, please follow the instructions located at this FAQ page to self-enroll in the Return to Campus COVID Awareness.

At the end of module 5, you will be asked to acknowledge and sign the Retriever Community Agreement making a personal commitment to precautions and actions required in order to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19 on our campus and beyond.

If you do not complete the training and sign the Retriever Community Agreement by August 27 you will be required to take classes online and/or live off campus until circumstances allow for a return to campus.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSC)

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a recognized leader in the field of drug discovery and development. The interdisciplinary faculty with expertise in structure-based drug design, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacometrics and nanotechnology are advancing basic and applied science in the enhancement of human health and well-being.

Our colleagues at UMB realize this presentation is being offered at short notice, yet would very much appreciate our engagement and willingness to share with all interested constituencies on campus.

Student Success Scholarship

The purpose of the Student Success Scholarship is to assist current residential students who demonstrate significant financial need to remain in on-campus residents, who may otherwise be unable to afford housing during the academic year. The scholarship is supported by the cable contract with Residential Life. Award funds are for the following semester. If you are applying in fall, the funds would be applied for the spring semester housing balance. If the application is submitted and accepted in spring, the funds would be for the subsequent fall. Several scholarships may be awarded each semester. Funds will vary based on eligibility and will range from full semester housing costs to partial semester housing costs, not to exceed the cost of a double room. Click here to apply by March 27, 2020!

Robinson Scholarship
Named for the former director of Residential Life, The Robinson Scholarship is awarded annually to a student with a good academic record who is also in need of financial aid.  Click here to apply by March 27, 2020!
