What does the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza do?
The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza is responsible for implementing SGA's biannual event, Election Night Extravaganza. Election Night Extravaganza has historically occurred only in alignment with Presidential election cycles, but this year we are expanding it to midterm elections. The Associate Director will work with student leaders from The Student Events Board (seb), College Democrats, College Republicans, The Resident Student Association (RSA), and other politically-engaged student organizations on campus to deliver programming around the 2018 Elections. Election Night Extravaganza will take place on Election Day (November 6th), where SGA will take over The Commons with programming throughout the building. Additionally, the Associate Director will organize other relevant programming before and after Election Day including expanding the Coffee & Conversation series, voter registration drives, and other initiatives that promote civic engagement. Lastly, the Associate Director will be working closely with staff and administrators from the Division of Student Affairs to build on UMBC's culture of civic engagement.
What are the time commitments for the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza?
The regular time commitments of the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza greatly vary. During the Fall semester, the Associate Director will spend time working with the student groups mentioned above to implement Election Night Extravaganza on November 6th. Additionally, the coordination of events leading up to (and after) the election will also involve significant time commitments. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!
