While the battle against the stigma surrounding mental health and getting students to reach out has made much progress, there is still more that our campus could be doing to support our students.
The ultimate goal is to provide each and every student with the resources and support they need to succeed. It starts with raising awareness of the resources already available on this campus. This includes increasing visibility of emergency numbers and information on where to find help. It continues with more students actively supporting their peers on campus. Peer mediated support groups are valuable tools on other college campuses that provide students with a comfortable environment to share their thoughts with other peers. These are just a few of the changes that could be made to continue progress on our campus.
