    <p><span>This annual award will recognize a student at UMBC who has completed an outstanding apprenticeship within the citizenship and public policy initiative.</span></p>

    <p><span>Established in April 1995 by Samuel I. Rosenberg, this award is given to a UMBC student (any year) who has completed a public service-focused internship, with either a nonprofit or government organization, directly addressing a social challenge.</span><span></span></p>

    <p><span>Samson, Rossetta A. and Sadie B. Feldman Family Award for Citizenship:<span></span></span></p>
    <p><span>This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed their junior year of studies and have demonstrated, through community service and academic activities, an understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship.</span></p>

    <p><span>The Samson, Rossetta A. and Sadie B. Feldman Family Award for Citizenship was established in January 1996 by Sadie B. Feldman in memory of her family.</span><span></span></p>

Examples can include: "I tutor young students who have trouble reading in order to help them be more successful in their learning" or "I volunteer with a local food pantry to ensure people receive necessary goods." With your quote, please leave your name and affiliation (ex. Choice, Shriver, UMBC, etc.) so that it can be posted on UMBC's TRHT social media accounts.     <div>Shriver Center friends, please welcome back <strong>Emily Paul '21, global studies,</strong> as a <strong>Service-Learning &amp; Community Engagement (SLCE) Program Specialist.  </strong>
    </div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>Emily was an integral part of the SLCE Program throughout her UMBC career, beginning as a member of the Shriver Living Learning Community (2017-18) and then as a Peer Mentor (2018-19).  In addition to the Shriver LLC,  Emily served as the<span> Esperanza Center </span><span>Student Coordinator for 3 years and the SLCE Intern in 2019-2020.  She also worked with Dr. Felipe Filomeno and Dr. Romy </span><span>Hübler as a research fellow with PLACE (Partnership for Learning and Action between Communities and Educators). The research was largely conducted at Benjamin Franklin High School.  In summer 2019, she studied abroad in Colombia.</span>

    <div>Previous to her return, Emily worked with an opinion polling firm in DC for the past 7 months. Her passions include building community and collaborating through grassroots action to address needs and promote assets, her dog Zoey, and pawpaws. </div>
