            by Friday, April 6, 2012.<br><br>Organization:<br>The CDF Freedom Schools® program is an educational and cultural enrichment program. Our program provides summer options for children where there are none and strengthens parent and community involvement in the year-round achievement of children. We serve children ages 5 to 18 for five to eight weeks and integrate reading, conflict resolution, and social action in an activity-based curriculum to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness.<br><br>Founded in 1995 by the Children’s Defense Fund’s Black Community Crusade for Children® (BCCC) initiative and today coordinated nationally by the Children’s Defense Fund in partnership with well-established and effective local and regional child-serving organizations, the CDF Freedom Schools program is a direct service initiative. CDF’s Leave No Child Behind® mission is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. The project director position requires training sessions conducted by CDF Freedom Schools national staff at the historic CDF Alex Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee.<br><br>College-age young people and recent college graduates play a key role in the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program as servant leader interns. CDF Freedom Schools servant leader interns are responsible for the front-line care and nurturing of the children. Using the Integrated Reading Curriculum, they serve as facilitators in the classroom and as leaders of parent workshops and community outreach activities.<br><br>Responsibilities<br>• Deliver the Integrated Reading Curriculum to a class of no more than ten students for 6–8 weeks during the summer months, according to the standards developed by the Children's Defense Fund and the local program sponsor.<br>• Set up and break down his/her classroom space, including securing and organizing the appropriate materials.<br>• Collaborate with staff to establish and maintain a supportive and structured environment for the children entrusted to their care.<br>• Serve as a Harambee! leader each day of program operation.<br>• Serve as a leader of afternoon activities and other special events; chaperone field trips.<br>• Participate fully in the June National Training from June 3–10, 2012. (1st, 2nd and 3rd year servant leader interns only).<br><br>Qualifications<br>• Must be between 19 – 30 years of age, completed at least one year of college, and have plans to complete the college degree<br>• Maintain or have graduated with at least a 3.0 G.P.A.<br>• Solid commitment to children’s advocacy and enthusiasm for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program<br>• Ability to motivate others and work as part of an intergenerational team<br>• Strong appreciation and understanding of individual cultural history and the willingness to be open and respectful of all cultures<br>• Willingness to strive for excellence in all areas<br>• Ability to think critically and analytically<br>• Exhibit positive attitude; model a mature and professional demeanor<br>• Excellent written and verbal skills<br>• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to the character, humility, and servant leadership ethics of Ella Baker<br>• Current voter registration<br>• Authorization for background check for criminal and child protective findings<br><br></div>

    <div class="html-content"><a href="http://www.tresys.com/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Tresys Technology</a> is looking for outstanding and highly motivated interns. Full and part-time paid internships are available during the 2012-2013 school year.  Internships can be 20 or 40 hours per week, depending on your schedule and our requirements.    <br><br>Interns will participate on various projects that are Cyber Security related. Most projects are systems engineering in scope with Interns doing various parts of the Full System Development Life Cycle. Traditionally they will work at the Linux OS level using C or Python to develop complex systems.  You might be tasked with testing systems and looking at various vulnerabilities. If you like getting very technical and want to understand Cyber Security from the systems level, you will work directly with these aspects. You will work on real projects that have an impact on the business and will influence the Intelligence Community.  Casual jeans environment! You will be challenged daily on your technical skills, problem solving ability, and intelligence!<br><br>Student must be project oriented and be able to multi-task. Student should have strong skills throughout the software development lifecycle. Student must have programming knowledge and have core computer science or development skills with C, C++, or python and the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing. Linux experience is highly desired.     <div class="html-content">Maryland Community Fellows Program<br><br>DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 1ST, TRAINING PROVIDED<br>TO APPLY, DOWNLOAD APPLICATION LINK.<br><br>Program History<br>The Maryland Community Fellows program is a partnership between the Maryland CASH Campaign, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and various Community Action Agencies (CAAs) statewide.<br><br>The Maryland Community Fellows Program began in 2009 to increase the capacity of CAA organizations to offer asset building services as well as the capacity of students to deliver these services. Fellows primarily focus their<br>activities in outreach and marketing about the Earned Income Tax Credit, free tax preparation, financial education, and individual case management.<br><br>General Job Description<br>• Research and become knowledgeable about the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, tax laws, tax credits (Earned Income Tax Credit), and savings bonds.<br>o Promote VITA and financial education programs on-site and throughout the community.<br>o Conduct community outreach and increase participation among target families.<br>o Update tax preparation brochures and flyers and create additional site advertisements through<br>marketing.<br>• Fellows must be certified at the IRS Basic level, at the minimum. Some sites require Intermediate or Site Manager Certification (this will be offered to Fellows once admitted into the program depending on site preference).<br>• Work with CAA to implement a VITA site during tax season.<br>o Support volunteer recruitment and assist with administration of VITA program.<br>o Greet tax customers and assist them in understanding and completing forms, applications and other documents required for VITA or to access public/private resources and services.<br>o Screen customers for eligibility of services and provide tax preparation.<br>• Implement financial education services through workshops and individual appointments.<br><br>Skills Needed<br>• Part-time or full-time junior and senior students currently enrolled in accredited four year institutions; Graduate students preferred.<br>• Excellent telephone skills and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, internet).<br>• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.<br>• Must be able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.<br>• Attentive to details and comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously.<br>• Ability to work 3 days a week at site location, totaling 24 hours.<br><br>Payment and Training<br>Fellows will be paid a $9,000 stipend. Training on tax preparation and financial education will be provided at no cost to the Fellows.<br><br>Site Locations<br>Placements are available in Allegany, Baltimore County, Carroll, Harford, Montgomery, and Wicomico Counties.  Placements in Wicomico County may also include Worcester and Somerset County work.<br><br></div>

    <p>The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg
    Foundation is seeking approximately <strong>three</strong> full-time, paid, summer 2012
    interns.  Candidates should be enrolled in or completing a graduate level
    program and have an overall GPA of at least a 3.0. </p>
    
    <p><strong>Intern (2)</strong></p>
    
    <p><strong>Program/Grants Support</strong></p>
    
    <p>The internship will provide students with relevant and
    constructive work experience in a philanthropic setting.  Interns will be
    given the opportunity to explore the field of philanthropy within a dynamic and
    active setting.  In doing so, the intern will be expected to analyze and
    synthesize information and create reports for review and decision making at the
    Foundation. The internship will expose the student to all five areas of
    grantmaking, including our Maryland Small Grants program. The individual should
    have excellent writing and verbal skills and a strong interest in best practice
    research and program evaluation.</p>
    
    
    
    <p>Interns must be able to commute
    to our Owings Mills office where parking is available and provided.  A
    minimum of 37 hours per week is expected for summer interns.   This
    is a paid position with availability in to begin May or June.  There will

    relevant, constructive work experience involving public and media relations,
    marketing, web management and social media in a philanthropic setting. 
    The Foundation is seeking one intern whose academic concentration, ideally,
    includes marketing, public relations, media or a related field who will assist
    with Weinberg Foundation communications both externally and internally. The
    candidate should have a strong interest in communications and public relations
    as well as exceptional writing skills. Web management (WordPress) and social
    media experience are highly desirable. </p>
    
    <p>Interns must be able to commute
    to our Owings Mills office where parking is available and provided.  A
    minimum of 37 hours per week is expected for summer interns.   This
    is a paid position with availability in to begin May or June.  There will

    <Title>Intern in Any MD Nonprofit and Get Paid for It This Summer</Title>

          <div class="html-content">The Maryland Nonprofit Leadership Program offers paid summer
          internship opportunities in the nonprofit sector to college juniors, seniors,
          and graduate students attending Maryland
          institutions.  Participating interns work for ten weeks full-time from
          June 4th to August 10th while participating in bi-weekly seminars in nonprofit
          management.  Each participating student receives a $3,000 stipend.<br><br>
          
          <p><strong>INTERNSHIP BENEFITS</strong></p>
          
          <p>College and university undergraduate and graduate students
          from various majors are provided with an opportunity to build valuable skills,
          explore career choices within the nonprofit sector and gain experience managing
          and leading public service organizations. In doing so, the Maryland Nonprofit
          Leadership Program makes an important contribution to the development of the
          state’s current and future workforce and citizenry.</p>
          
          
          
          <p><strong>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS</strong></p>
          
          <ul><li>Eligible
               applicants must be graduate or undergraduate students attending a two- or
               four- year college or university in Maryland
               with a GPA of 3.00 or higher.  In addition, all undergraduate
               applicants must be entering their junior or senior year during the Fall
               2012 semester. </li><li>Candidates
               must intern full-time for 10 weeks from June 4 to August 10, 2012. </li><li>Interns
               must be willing to travel to the Baltimore
               area as necessary during the ten weeks of the program to attend four to
               five professional development seminars conducted by the Maryland
               Association of Nonprofit Organizations.  </li><li>Special
               consideration for admittance into the program will be given to applicants
               who have secured a summer internship in a Maryland non-profit at the time of
               application.  However, assistance will be given to students without a
               placement once they are admitted into the Maryland Nonprofit Leadership
               Program. </li></ul>

          </span>Interns can gain experience in policy development, marketing,
          international relations, computer networking, engineering, planning and
          financing, public relations, and neighborhood conservation.<span>  </span>Placement opportunities are available at the
          MD Aviation Administration, MD Port Administration, MD Transit Administration,
          Motor Vehicle Administration, MD State Highway Administration, MD
          Transportation Authority, or The Secretary’s Office.<span>  </span></span>
