Inhaled corticosteroid-containing medications are essential for managing symptoms and preventing severe attacks, yet access to these treatments remains limited in many parts of the world due to high cost or lack of availability.</span><br><br><span>This year, the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) is calling on healthcare professionals, governments, manufacturers, and policy makers to take urgent action to ensure that all individuals with asthma can access the medications they need to live healthy, full lives.</span><br><br><span>It’s also important to recognize that not all experiences of asthma or allergies rise to the level of a disability or create barriers in educational or work environments but for some, the symptoms can be severe enough that adjustments or alternatives are necessary.   <Title>March 3rd is World Hearing Day!</Title>

  <Title>Engaging with Disability Awareness Month at UMBC</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><strong>National Disability Awareness Month</strong><span> is 
     held in October to raise awareness about issues that arise within the 
    lived experience of people with disabilities, and celebrates the many 
    and varied contributions of Americans with disabilities.</span><div><div><div><br></div><div>NDAM's
     roots go back to 1945, when Congress enacted a law declaring the first 
    week in October each year "National Employ the Physically Handicapped 
    Week." In 1962, the word "physically" was removed to acknowledge the 
    employment needs and contributions of individuals with various types of 
    disabilities. In 1988, Congress expanded the week to a month and changed
     the name to "National Disability Awareness Month" to address inclusion 
    more broadly.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Americans
     with disabilities make up almost one-fifth of our population, which 
    brings more celebration to this month, underneath the umbrella of the

  <Title>November is Diabetes Awareness Month</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Diabetes 
    Awareness Month is celebrated in November, where we call attention to a 
    serious health condition that is no laughing matter with its need for 
    monitoring and management, as well as its intersection with disability 
    and mortality.  November includes World Diabetes Day (November 14th) 
    which was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Foundation and 
    the World Health Organization to recognize growing concerns about 
    escalating health threats posed by diabetes. In 2006, it was recognized 
    by the UN, and is celebrated on the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting 
    who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922.<div><div><div><br></div><div>Diabetes
     has a wide global reach and fits within the definition of a disability,
     and sometimes concerns about its flares (especially with Type 1) have 
    graduate and undergraduate students reach out for on-campus resources,

  <Title>October is Disability Awareness Month</Title>
  <Tagline>Disability: Essential to the Equity and Inclusion Equation</Tagline>

        												<div><strong>National Disability Awareness Month</strong><span> is 
     held in October to raise awareness about issues that arise within the 
    lived experience of people with disabilities, and celebrates the many 
    and varied contributions of Americans with disabilities.</span><div><br></div><div>NDAM's
     roots go back to 1945, when Congress enacted a law declaring the first 
    week in October each year "National Employ the Physically Handicapped 
    Week." In 1962, the word "physically" was removed to acknowledge the 
    employment needs and contributions of individuals with various types of 
    disabilities. In 1988, Congress expanded the week to a month and changed
     the name to "National Disability Awareness Month" to address inclusion 
    more broadly.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Americans with disabilities 
    make up almost one-fifth of our population, which brings more 
    celebration to this month, underneath the umbrella of the  Americans

    Day (November 14th) fell on a Sunday - within Diabetes Awareness Month -
     it was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Foundation and the
     World Health Organization to recognize growing concerns about 
    escalating health threats posed by diabetes. In 2006, it was recognized 
    by the UN, and is celebrated on the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting 
    who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922.<div><br></div><div>Diabetes
     has a wide global reach and fits within the definition of a disability,
     and sometimes concerns about its flares have graduate and undergraduate
