   Don’t wait, log into your Accommodate portal to schedule your accommodated testing for final exams as soon as possible.

2. Connect with Your Faculty Early
   Be proactive in discussing your accommodation needs.
   For example, if you need to reschedule a test or adjust the time, email your professor in advance.
   Remember:

   • Requests for disability-related absences, make-up tests, or extensions on assignments should be made ahead of time.

   • At least 24 hours' notice is preferred.

   • All exam or quiz rescheduling requires your instructor’s approval.

For students with SDS testing accommodations at the UMBC main campus, please use our Accommodate software (https://sds.umbc.edu/accommodated-testing/) to schedule your final exams. During finals, May 19th through May 24th, SDS will be open for testing between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm each testing day. (NOTE - There are no 7:00 pm extended hours during finals at UMBC SDS-main campus.) Remember that finals must be booked in SDS a minimum of two business days in advance, BUT you should schedule all of them NOW. We actually ran out of space during midterms but can advocate for additional rooms for Finals if we know the demand in advance.

For students registered with SDS who take classes at Shady Grove (USG), please follow the directions on the USG testing website at https://www.shadygrove.umd.edu/student-services/center-for-academic-success/dss.  In general, USG test request forms must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the exam date.

Important Notes:

• Online finals: If your course is online, then it is likely that your final exam is online.  Your instructor will set extended time in the testing platform and you do not need to schedule it in SDS.
• Common Finals vs Regular Finals: Check the two schedules linked below to see when your course is scheduled for finals, if any.Also check your syllabus for each class.
  
• Most finals are 2 hours long, so your extended time will be longer than usual. It is really important to check that your finals do not overlap or exceed testing center hours when you apply extended time.
• If your final exams will overlap in time or if you have more than two finals on one day, please communicate this information directly to your instructors with your plan for how you would like to schedule your test time with accommodation(s).  If there are any difficulties in scheduling alternate test scheduling arrangements, please contact SDS for assistance.
• Also, please remember that your instructor must email SDS at disability@umbc.edu to notify us of their agreement to your test time when it is different than your class's scheduled test day/time.
• Note that the registrar's office may have changed the Common Finals schedule since it was first published. Please double-check your final exam times with your instructors if you have common finals.
• You will NOT be able to schedule exams in SDS (or CAS at Shady Grove) unless you submitted a Semester Request for Spring 2022 and had your Letter of Accommodations sent to your instructors.
