The Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising is hosting the first "Major" Event. This three day event is targeted to all students at UMBC, from those who are exploring majors, to just declaring, even for those deciding what careers are a good fit with their declared major. Below are the events and attached is a flier of the events. More information to come, but share with your students!
Monday, October 1
3:00 pm – The Major Event Kick Off – Recital Hall
Speaker: Don Asher, PhD
Internationally recognized career expert, Dr. Don Asher, will give his dynamic and inspiring talk, “You Can Major in Anything You Want: If and Only If You Do These 5 Things in College.”
The first 55 students to attend will receive a free copy of Don Asher’s book!
4:30 pm – 5:30 pm – MAJOR Networking Event – UC Ballroom
MAJOR Networking is the name, People Bingo is the game. Join the party, meet department department/program alumni and student representatives and discuss how majors work in the real world. Food will be provided.
Tuesday, October 2
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm– What Can I Do with This Major? - (Commons 318, 328, 329)
Several of UMBC’s unique programs will showcase ways to experience what it’s like to pursue a particular major.
Wednesday October 3
10:00 am – 12:00 pm Majors Fair – UC Ballroom
This is not your typical major fair! Join us for a fun and lively opportunity to meet with faculty and staff representatives to explore and learn more about the numerous majors at UMBC. Capture the moment at our photo booth and receive some great swag! Music and refreshments provided.
