Did you know UMBC is currently competing in RecycleMania...
Here's how we're doing...
Let's do better! Sort your waste. Reduce your consumption. Remember your reusable alternatives (reusable mugs, tote bags, and more). Compost. Recycle. Take some time to learn how to sort your waste and share this information with your network (your officemates, classmates, teammates, roommates etc.): http://my.umbc.edu/groups/sustainability/posts/66318
Going Green for St. Patrick's Day:
Off Campus Student Services, the Student Events Board (seb), and Peer Health Educators came together for a lunch and learn on Commons Mainstreet today. Awareness and action around recycling, carpooling, and sustainable transportation were featured during the event.
RecycleMania Awareness Dinner
Another successful dinner and discussion with the eco-ambassadors took place Wednesday night- thanks to all the eco-ambassadors for organizing! Students prepared original poetry, art, songs, and stories about consumption, resource extraction, waste and the global impacts of our habits on social justice and human health. People shared their experiences in China, Iran, India, Liberia, Baltimore City, UMBC, Montgomery County and more.
The previous awareness dinner focused on UMBC's Climate Action efforts:
This was also a recap of the in depth discussion that took place during the Sustainability Leadership Retreat last month:
