UMBC Swim Club is one of our university’s newest club sports, which meets four days a week, M-Th at 7:30pm-9:30pm at the RAC Indoor Pool, which due to construction can now be accessed by following the signs to the side door located behind the Sondheim building. The RAC Pool is open right now! See the calendar attached for more details.
Whether you’re new to swimming altogether or a seasoned competitor looking for a substitute for the commitment of a varsity sport, Swim Club wants to meet you! We are not just accountability for your fitness - we’re also a great way to meet people on campus, have fun, and meet the athletic goals you set for yourself... check out all the neat things we’re planning for this semester:
- Organized workouts, includes time trials, relays, and pool games!
- Swim meets around the Mid-Atlantic, in the past we’ve competed at UMD’s regional championship, as well as at George Mason and AU!
- Water Polo games in the diving well!
- Student Org Leadership opportunities: Volunteering for Swim Club is experience you can put on a resume to show involvement!
- A welcoming team atmosphere, including movie night, late night after practice, and dinners/sightseeing after swim meets!
This semester we’re also going to see if we can add in:
- Swim lessons for beginners or anyone needing a brush-up on stroke technique!
- Fundraising Day, possibly with the support of other UMBC orgs!
- Specific feedback and take-home workouts for competitors looking to train for swim meets!
- And other fun out-of-the-pool events to unwind between practice
If you’ve been to Swim Club before, we’re glad to have you back. And if you’re new, try just one practice and see if you like it!
