Dear Transit Riders and Campus Partners,
As the University System of Maryland (USM) and the Baltimore County Health Department continue to assess and respond to COVID-19 and this rapidly evolving public health crisis, we want to ensure the flow of information is clear as it relates to our services and Business Continuity Plans. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and the risk it poses to our community, we have made the decision to suspend all bus services until it is safe to reopen.
The decision to close was difficult and certainly unprecedented, because we understand the impact and value our services adds to your livelihood. We also don’t want to put any of our riders, our staff, or their families in any potential harm while servicing our community.
UMBC is committed to keeping our community safe, healthy, and informed. While we’re closed, we want to provide our students with a few options to purchase essential items. This is in keeping with our Extend Beyond Campus campaign and supporting broader community at the Greater Arbutus Business Association and the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce.
Students living in and around the following routes are encouraged to take advantage of what the broader community has to offer, and utilize these local businesses to obtained essential items.
Please see the following Link to Essential Destinations with in the Arbutus, Catonsville and Paradise communities.
We will be distributing information as necessary, and understand there will be many questions as this develops, but if you have a question at any time, please do not hesitate to reach us at transit@umbc.edu. Please check our website and our myUMBC group page for the latest updates.
