Category: Steganography
Challenge Name: A Little Hide & Seek

Alright so you’ve got an image file that looks totally normal, at first glance, but we all know, in the world of CTFs, nothing is as it first seems. Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to extract a hidden treasure (the flag for this challenge)! Easy enough, but you'll have to work a little bit for it. 

I've done all I can to get us this far. I can give you a map to the treasure (.jpg) and a python script you can use to hunt it down (.py), but the only way to unlock that treasure is by solving a small puzzle. Take a look at the python script and see that it's all ready to go, but it’s missing a critical piece: the secret key! 

Don't Panic! This is nothing more than a little hide & seek.

Welcome Back to CyberPaws! Regardless if this your first challenge or your 50th, we are excited to have you back! For this semester's first challenge, you should use this week to familiarize yourself with the bot again and any information it might have to share 'about' itself. But be aware, the bot likes to play games. Don't expect the flag to be revealed without some work!

Once you find it, make sure to submit it to the CyberPaws CTF Bot on Discord as a DM for credit! Good luck!

The International Cyber Security Center of Excellence and Northeastern University invite students to participate in the 6th International Country-to-Country (C2C) Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, C2C-CTF. This exciting competition allows students to work together as international teams to solve interesting CTF challenges while learning new skills, socializing, and promoting international collaboration and friendship. 

C2C-CTF 2025 (https://www.c2c-ctf-2025.org/) is organized and hosted by Northeastern University and will take place in person on its campus in Boston, Massachusetts. The organizing committee invites students at all levels from universities in the UK, USA, Japan, Israel, EU, and Australia to apply to participate.

Students can register online and participate individually in an online qualifying event from February 7 to 9, 2025. Students who qualify for the final competition will be organized into teams of five members from different universities to encourage international academic collaboration. These teams will compete in person at the final event in Boston from July 7 to 9, 2025. 

The organizers will hold webinars as part of the competition and educational process, during which students will learn about and discuss cybersecurity issues. 

A goal is to create diverse teams for the competition by selecting competitors from a broad range of backgrounds, nationalities, languages, genders, experiences, and cybersecurity skills. We seek motivated and resourceful participants who enjoy a tough, intellectual challenge in a cooperative international context -- we are not merely looking for experts who have won other hacking competitions, although those students are also welcome and strongly encouraged to participate.

As a reminder, any student may join the team by completing a Team Entry Form. Both undergraduate and graduate students can join the team.

There will still be tryouts on December 6 and December 7th. However, the results from tryouts will now be used to determine placement on competition teams. Both undergraduate and graduate students can try out.

Tryouts are a great opportunity to learn and test skills, so give it a shot; even if you feel you might not get placed, you don’t know unless you try!

Tonight's the night. This meeting we will hold the election for the upcoming Vice President vacancy. We'll be meeting at the usual time from 7:15PM - 8:15PM in our usual place ILSB 118. You can also join us virtually on Webex: https://umbc.webex.com/meet/CyberDawgs. Everyone is invited to attend!

As a reminder, as outlined in the constitution, only club members will be allowed to vote\run for position.

Below are the membership requirements:UMBC undergraduates can become members of this organization by: 1. Following the CyberDawgs Student Org Page on myUMBC (https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/umbccd) 2. Attending no fewer than five (5) of the scheduled club meetings per semester (Virtually or In-Person)
