Welcome (back) to the Cyberdawgs: COVID edition!
We have a great semester planned for you all, and the best part is: you can enjoy it all right in the comfort of your own home! It is sad that we can't see all your beautiful faces in PUP105 every week, but it's more important that we deliver you all the best meetings we can in the ways we are able.
On the topic of the delivery: our normal meetings and hosted events are required to move online, unsurprisingly. We already dabbled with the online format for meetings earlier in the spring, using web conferencing software. We are experimenting with streaming to Youtube, but if that isn't satisfactory then we will likely use Cisco Webex. Either way, we plan to record the meetings for later viewing if you can't make the normal meeting time. Keep an eye out for next weeks email with details about this. The bigger change is moving our annual Cyber Defense Exercise (CDE) online. We are still planning to host it on the original date of Saturday 17 October, and are continuing to figure out the logistics and plans for that. We will send you more details and times for registration in the coming weeks, and we also plan to discuss some details in the week or two prior.
Now for the important part: topics! All regular meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 19:00-21:00 (7-9pm). We will also be hosting beginner meetings at the same time on the first four Tuesdays in September. These beginner meetings will introduce the basic skills and knowledge that will be instrumental to following along with most topics. I have personally heard some people avoid the club for _not_ having the "required skills", and we want make it easier for newer people to jump in by giving them the practical basics. The beginner topics are as follows:
