  <Title>Summer Research Opportunity in Engineering; Starts June 22</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>The Northwestern University Materials Research Science &amp; Engineering Center offers a<span><span><a rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)</a></span> program</span> over a 9-week period each summer. <br><br>The NU-Materials Research Science and Engineering Center is an interdisciplinary program focused on multi-functional nanoscale material structures.  Over 28 faculty from 5 different departments are involved.  REU students will have the opportunity to contribute to a research project led by a center faculty member and will participate in interdisciplinary research group meetings, expanding their science and engineering experience into a range of fields.  Students with an interest in nanomaterials and majoring in a science or engineering field are encouraged to apply.  Each student will be assigned to a graduate student or post-doctoral associate mentor who will work closely with them.</p><p>At the end of the REU program, the participants will write a technical paper and give a 15-minute oral presentation on their research at a symposium open to the public. Other program activities include a field trip to a national or industrial lab, a beach party for social networking, a panel discussion on graduate school admissions, and seminars by Northwestern faculty and graduate students.</p></div>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span>June </span><span>1</span><span>- Aug. </span><span>8</span><span>, 201</span><span>4</span></p><p> </p><p><span><strong>Program Description</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>CU LSAMP-REU is a paid summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate participants with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest through weekly luncheons.</p><p><br>Undergraduate students, interested in gaining a deeper understanding in an engineering-related field, have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week duration under the auspices of a Cornell Engineering faculty research mentor. Through this one-on-one partnership, participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. CU LSAMP-REU was developed to aid in the retention of traditionally underrepresented minority groups in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).</p></div>

    <div class="html-content"><span>The MURF program aims to increase the participation of underrepresented students (such as African American, Hispanic, and Native American, females who are underrepresented in their discipline, or first-generation college students) in science and engineering Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. programs and to make Caltech's programs more visible to students not traditionally exposed to Caltech.</span><br>
    <br><span>Eligibility: Students must be current sophomores
    through non-graduating seniors and must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required.</span><br><br>
    <span>Competitive applicants will have completed sophomore-level courses in desired research field, have demonstrated through academic and/or co-curricular activities a passion for research, and can articulate how their research interests align with Caltech's research areas.     <Title>Summer Research Opportunity in Engineering</Title>

          from throughout the country the opportunity to conduct research projects
           in:</h2>
          <ul><li><a href="http://www.cse.unt.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Computer Science </a></li><li><a href="http://www.cse.unt.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Computer Engineering </a></li><li><a href="http://engineering.unt.edu/electrical/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Electrical Engineering</a> </li><li><a href="http://www.etec.unt.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Engineering Technology</a></li><li><a href="http://www.mtse.unt.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Materials Science and Engineering</a></li></ul>
          <p>The program lasts for eight weeks during the summer. The dates for 2012 are June 2nd (check-in) to July 28th (check out).</p>
          <h3>Research Opportunities</h3>
          <p>All research projects pertaining to SUPER will be based in <a href="http://engineering.unt.edu/about/about-discovery-park" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Discovery Park</a>, just four miles north of the main campus.</p>
          <p>SUPER students will have office space in <a href="http://engineering.unt.edu/about/about-discovery-park" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Discovery Park</a>
           and access to all research facilities. They will be assigned a faculty 
          mentor and can choose to perform research under one of our research 
          areas or propose a research project of their own (check our website for 
          other exciting research projects):</p>
          <ul><li>Bioinformatics</li><li>Characterization and testing of piezoelectric materials and devices</li><li>Computer architecture, memory systems, and parallel processing</li><li>Development and testing of advanced polymer based materials and composites</li><li>Embedded Computing</li><li>Low Power VLSI Design</li><li>Microwave and Antennas</li></ul>
          <h3>Eligibility</h3>
          <p>Our program is oriented towards students who have completed at least two years of study in:</p>

    <div class="html-content"><span><strong>MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP)</strong> from
                          June 10 – August 11, 2011.<br></span><span><br>This summer program seeks to identify talented
                          sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors
                          from around the country who could benefit from
                          spending a summer on MIT's campus, working in a
                          research laboratory under the guidance of
                          experienced scientists and engineers.</span><span> </span><span>The
                          program features supervision by an MIT faculty
                          member and postdoctoral fellow or advanced
                          graduate student; weekly seminars/workshops;
                          preparation and delivery of a research poster and
                          paper; individual counseling on academic careers;
                          hands-on training in active, "real-world"
                          laboratories; and participation in social and
                          cultural activities in the area.</span><br><span><br></span></div>
