UROC is a consortium of ten programs, of which five accept out-of-state students. They have several NSF REUs as well as Summer Research Institute (SRI) - a program that accepts all majors. The campus and the city of Tucson are relaxed, welcoming environments that celebrate diversity, difference, and culture. The University of Arizona (UA) has over 100+ doctoral programs and 140+ master’s programs, as well as a very diverse graduate student body.
Program Highlights:
- 10-weeks faculty supervised research
- Free GRE instruction, on-site GRE registration and test-taking
- Free six units of upper division graded research credits
- Professional development seminars on graduate admissions, graduate funding, and presentation skills
- Deliverables include: research report, oral presentation, poster presentation, publishing the abstract in our UROC Abstract Review, a professional head shot

Integrated Optics for Undergraduates – Native Americans (IOU-NA)
This program is designed for Native American students interested in participating in hands-on research opportunities in top laboratories in optics and photonics, as well as hydrology, astronomy, soil sciences, atmospheric sciences, and environmental sciences.

Minority Health Disparities (MHD)
MHD, funded by The University of Arizona, focuses on health issues that affect minority communities in a disproportionate manner. Open to junior or senior biomedical majors interested in continuing their education at the PhD level. McNair and MARC scholars from other schools are invited to participate in MHD.

Biosphere 2 Research Experiences for Undergraduates
UA’s Biosphere 2 facility is the site of this summer research experience. By using a multidisciplinary approach (involving disciplines such as hydrology, geology, geochemistry, ecology, biology, physics, engineering, and atmospheric sciences) research teams focus on understanding how earth systems respond to environmental change. Open to freshman, sophomores, and juniors.

Electrical & Computer Engineering CAT Vehicle REU
This research experience for undergraduates (REU) is engaged in the myriad of applications that are related to autonomous ground vehicles. Each summer, 10 NSF-funded undergraduate students participate in an immersive research experience, sitting side-by-side with graduate researchers and working on one of the most compelling and complex applications of today: autonomous systems.
