The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is a 10-week interdisciplinary internship that provides undergraduates with valuable research and professional development experience that prepares them for graduate studies.

Student applications must be received by February 1, 2019
- Present research at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium (LANS) as well as a UVA research symposium.
- Conduct research with UVA faculty and graduate student mentor(s).
- Participate in workshops on research methods and the graduate school application process, and enroll in a rigorous GRE preparation course.
- A $3,000 stipend, and additional travel and meal expenses.
- Housing throughout the program.
- A network of mentors and a range of holistic well-being supports.
- Must be a current junior, with 2 semesters or less to complete after summer 2019.
- Are encouraged to be from an underrepresented background.
