ArtSpeaks Series
Please review the below opportunities:
The first is ArtSpeaks, a series we started in order to provide a platform for artists of all levels to practice talking about their work. As we are in the midst of a pandemic, offering virtual opportunities to artists is vital and allows for them to continue their practice while staying safe. By using the Zoom format, we wanted to create a flexible and experimental atmosphere for artists to present their own artist talk, research, or even play with this online format in whatever way they would like. This gives artists an opportunity to gain experience talking about their work as well as using this virtual format in a creative way.
The application for this series can be accessed on our website here:
The second opportunity we have running is The Witching Hour II: A QuaranZine. This is an open call for artists and works that embrace the otherness of the non-hetero//non-cis//non-white//non-male that society has oppressed, cast aside and deemed nefarious. Not only will the exhibition be virtually accessible on our website, it will also be viewable in the zine format. Zines have long been a vehicle for communicating the unusual//unconventional//unorthodox ideas held by counter-culture dwellers. Their DIY nature and small-scale appearance felt like the perfect form for this exhibition to acclimate. With a $15 application fee, each applicant will receive a free copy of the zine once it’s published regardless of whether or not their application is accepted.
The application guidelines can be accessed on our site here:
Please feel free to pass this info along to whomever you think may be interested. And of course, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Stay well and thank you so much for your time!
