Earlier today,
President Freeman Hrabowski and Provost Philip Rous released a statement
informing the UMBC community that the civil lawsuit filed against UMBC and
the individual defendants at the university has been dismissed. This news
has undoubtedly left our community in a state of confusion, worry,
experiencing many emotions and feelings, and yet again asking the question...
How much is enough?
Enough
was a long time ago. Enough
is enough. Enough
is right now.
Survivors,
We see you. We stand with you and support you every step of the way. We believe you. We value
your stories, your dreams, your journey, your future, and all of your
potential. You are never alone in this fight and always, infinitely matter.
During
tomorrow’s (10/2) General Body Meeting, 6-7pm est., We Believe You will be hosting a
collective healing and debriefing session for those who wish to continue to hold space and discuss/unpack today’s news. All of the meeting information
and details can be found on our myUMBC events page.
All events, groups, organizations, and centers are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
