Yoga Q&A: Chelsea Feezel

<Tagline>Learn how to win a free yoga mat!</Tagline>

Then I found that yoga helped greatly with dealing with mental and emotional struggles as well as stressful times. In addition, with further practice, yoga has helped me develop a sense self, answering the question, “Who am I?”

WHY DO YOU FIND YOGA TO BE BENEFICIAL?:

Yoga gives strategies that help alleviate stress, depression, anxiety and it is relaxing. It develops body awareness, contentedness with self (in various levels of poses/practice). Yoga also teaches patience with yourself. You will learn to create length (which improves posture) and space in the body.

Yoga is good for your health especially blood pressure. It can also be therapeutic with diseases and some injuries. You just feel better after doing yoga! Mind is calm, clear, and centered. The body feels like it did work, but is also more flexible, calm and healed. Teaches you to slow down and feel each pose, to feel your breath, to be aware of your body. It's detoxifying.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR YOGA CLASS:

Participation in a morning yoga class will give you the best start to the day. This class helps clear your mind and relax your body to start your day with lovely, positive yoga feeling. I incorporate all aspects of yoga. This includes meditation, pranayama (or yogic breathing), yoga philosophy and themes. I instruct with a sweet, soothing voice that guides students through meditation, breathing, and a variety of postures. Each class has “yoga nap time” or corpse pose or savasana, which is a guided relaxation meditation at the end of each class.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU MIGHT ADD:

Yoga comes from the word “yoke” which means to bring together. Yoga is the bridge between body and mind. Yoga not only develops muscle tone, strength, flexibility, balance; but also brings focus, clarity, centeredness, relaxation, and stillness to the mind. My approach to yoga is health based and therapeutic, through developing awareness of the body, and spirit.

Win a free Yoga mat by attending Chelsea's morningtime yoga class. The raffle takes place May 1st. Attend multiple times for a better chance of winning!

8 Tricks To Finding More Meaning At Work

<Tagline>Wellness Article of the Week: Huffington Post Healthy Living</Tagline>

"Do you experience meaning at work -- or just emptiness?

In the United States people spend on average 35-40 hours working every week. That's some 80,000 hours during a career -- more time than you will spend with your kids, probably.

Beyond the paycheck, what does work give you? Few questions could be more important. It is sad to walk through life and experience work as empty, dreadful, a chore -- sapping energy out of your body and soul. Yet many employees do, as evidenced by one large-scale study showing that only 31 percent of employees felt engaged with their work.

Of course, different people look for different types of meanings -- and, moreover, different workplaces provide different meanings. The phrase "meaning at work" refers to a person's experience of something meaningful -- something of value -- that work provides. That is not the same as "meaningful work," which refers to the task itself. Work is a social arena that provides a variety of meaningful experiences; even if an employee doesn't find her tasks to be especially fulfilling, she might derive meaning from other aspects of her job, such as friendships with colleagues.

So, what are the sources of meaningful experiences at work? We have compiled a list of ways that work can become more meaningful, based on our reading of literature in organization behavior and psychology."
