Showing of "The Glass House"

The Glass House documentary follows four girls in the capital of Iran, Tehran; striving to pull themselves out of the margins by attending a one-of-kind rehabilitation center in uptown Tehran. Omid-e-Mehr Foundations mission is to empower disadvantaged young women in Iran. This ground breaking documentary shows how the vision of one person as the founder with the help of dedicated staff working to instill a sense of empower and hope into the minds and lives of otherwise discarded teenage girls. Through the film, learn about the power of individual commitment, courage, dealing with childhood trauma, gender relations, addiction, and counseling, the challenges of making rap music, among many other social and psychological issues, and how the film might be used in your classes.
The screening of film will be followed by Q&A session with Dr. Gohar Frahani, one of the Omid Foundation USA Board Directors, and Narges Ershad, UMBC undergraduate student studying Sociology and Gender/Women Studies and one of the volunteers and Omid Angle.
