  <Title>NSBE-UMBC shows strong at Fall Regional Conference</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><div>UMBC's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers showed off during the Fall Conference of NSBE's mid-Atlantic region on November 5-7, 2010. 24 students travelled to the conference to develop themselves as leaders academically, professionally, and culturally.</div><div><br></div><div>Four students competed in the <strong>Technical Research Exhibition</strong>, presenting undergraduate work done during internships and REU's. Maleshia Jones (MechE) won first place in the poster competition! Kudos go to Nate<span>é</span> Johnson (Mech E), Sheriff Jolaoso (Comp E), and Chrysantus Bandon-Bibum II (Mech E)! </div><div><br></div><div>Two teams with 10 total people competed in the <strong>Battle of the Engineers,</strong> earning a top 10 and a top 3 spot amongst schools like Carnegie Mellon, UPitt, Virginia Tech, and UMD-College Park. Kudos to Henry Washington (Mech E), Aishah Ayaz (Mech E), Nate<span>é</span> Johnson, Maleshia Jones, Joshua Austin (Math), Kerry Luke (Comp E), Israel Ilufoye (Comp E), Fri-Atsoh AchiriMofor (Mech E),  Derek Woodland (Mech E), and Deanna Easley (Mech. E)! </div><div><br></div><div>Several students from UMBC were also recognized for their <strong>Contributions and Presentations </strong>in workshops and behind the scenes to contribute to the success of the conference.           <div class="html-content">Full Title: De La Rosa Nets Career-High 30 Points, But Men's Basketball Falls to Central Connecticut, 82-74Baltimore�UMBC junior guard Chris De La Rosa posted his second career double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds, but the Retrievers fell to Central Connecticut State, 82-74, at the RAC Arena. The scoring and rebounding figures for De La Rosa are both career highs. Spurred by the brilliant play by freshman forward Chase Plummer UMBC built an 11-point lead midway through the first half. But Central would then outscore UMBC, 22-2, and amassed 32 points over the final 9:38 of the half to take command, 48-29, at intermission.</div>
