  <Title>2026 WashU RADIANCE Summer Research Program</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The <a href="https://sites.wustl.edu/globalhealthcenter/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">WashU Global Health Center</a> invites you to apply for the <a href="https://sites.wustl.edu/globalhealthcenter/education-training/summer-research-progra/cardiovascular-disease-hematology-track-radiance/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">2026 SummeR reseArch DIscovery ProgrAm iN Cardiovascular Disease &amp; HEmatology (RADIANCE)</a>. RADIANCE is a summer research training program at WashU in heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders for undergraduate, graduate, and health professional students (medical students, MPH students, and other health professions). The program is supported by an R25 grant from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).</div><div> </div><div><strong>Program Period: June 8 - July 31, 2026</strong></div><div><strong>Application Deadline: January 20, 2026 at 11:59pm CT</strong></div><div> </div><div><strong>The RADIANCE track provides the following to each participating student:</strong></div><div><ol><li>Housing, transportation costs to/from St. Louis, and a Metrolink transit pass;</li><li>$4,000 stipend for undergraduate students or $4,392 stipend for graduate or health professional students;</li><li>Financial support for approved professional development activities related to their summer research project (e.g., conference/workshop attendance, publication fees, etc.);</li><li>A 1-week Bootcamp at the beginning of the training program to develop general research and professional skills and scientific knowledge related to cardiology, hematology, pulmonology, and sleep disorders;</li><li>Weekly lecture series on topics related to cardiology, hematology, pulmonology, sleep disorders, and other topics in general medical sciences and public health;</li><li>Real-world research experience at a top-ranked research institution;</li><li>One-on-one mentorship in a small research project;</li><li>Opportunities to advance writing and oral presentation skills; and</li><li>Social and networking opportunities throughout the summer.</li></ol></div><div> </div><div><strong>What to expect from the RADIANCE track:</strong></div><div><ul><li>RADIANCE will focus on enhancing participants’ skills so that they understand the challenges and opportunities needed to become successful researchers in heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders.</li><li>Participants are expected to pursue their research training full time (defined as 40 hours per week), attend all program events, and complete all required evaluations and deliverables.</li><li>At the end of the eight-week program, participants will give symposium presentations.</li><li>Participants will engage in group discussions, seminars and lectures on research ethics, scientific writing, clinical trials, and more.</li></ul></div><div> </div><div><strong>Eligibility criteria for RADIANCE:</strong></div><div><ul><li>Individuals must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.</li><li>Individuals must be a full-time undergraduate, graduate, or health professional student actively enrolled in an accredited university or health professional school.</li><li>Individuals must have successfully completed at least one undergraduate year at an accredited university (including baccalaureate schools of nursing) or have successfully completed at least one quarter or semester at an accredited health professional school.</li></ul></div><div> </div><div>Have Questions?     <div class="html-content">From 11/11 – 12/5: Exterior work will continue on the Sherman Hall Renewal Project.  The North and South towers will be prepared for new steel, new window openings and new brick while the long east and west elevations will have their exterior facades removed. This work will generate some periods of intermittent and some periods of consistent noise levels above normal conditions. This may disrupt activities that require very quiet conditions. </div>

  <Title>How to support Retriever Essentials - 10 for 10!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>For the past 10 years, Retriever Essentials has been dedicated to nourishing our ever growing UMBC community by fighting food insecurity, and providing essential resources to students, staff, and faculty. If you'd like to contribute to this important work please consider participating in our 10 for 10 campaign! As we celebrate a decade of service, we are encouraging folks to donate a recurring $10 per month (or as much as you're able) in honor of our 10 years. </div><img src="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/retrieveressentials/posts/154419/attachments/60289" alt='Graphic reads "10 for 10 Retriever Essentials, celebrating 10 years of student support"' style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><div><div>Currently, we're experiencing high demand and seeking ways to keep the shelves of The Essential Space, our campus free grocery store, stocked. In light of the national focus on food insecurity, we've received numerous inquiries asking how to help support our work. This is a testimony to the incredibly caring and supportive community at UMBC, which we are so thankful for.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>How to make financial contributions:</strong> Any amount is helpful and appreciated! You may make a secure credit card donation through <a href="https://www.givecampus.com/campaigns/41278/donations/new?designation=retrieveressentials&amp;" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">the university's giving site</a>. Be sure to type "Retriever Essentials" under designation and consider opting into a recurring gift. For staff and faculty interested in pre-tax payroll deduction you can sign up for recurring gifts through <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/give/login" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">USM's giving site</a>. After logging in with your UMBC credentials you can select Retriever Essentials as the fund to donate to.</div></div><div><div><br></div><div><strong>If you prefer to donate items directly, here's a list of the primary needs:</strong></div><div>- Quick grab and go items like protein bars/shakes and fresh fruit (apples and bananas)</div><div>- Prepackaged Rice Bags</div><div>- Cereal/oatmeal</div><div>- Ready-to-eat meals that can be microwaved</div><div>- Canned or packet meats (tuna, chicken) ideally with pop-top lids</div><div>- Coats, gloves, and blankets (we're stocked on hats and scarves)</div><div><div>- Can openers</div><div>- Diapers and wipes</div><div>- Basic toiletries (toothpaste, brushes, etc..)</div></div><div>- Menstrual products</div><div><br></div><div>We also have an <a href="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2W3UX3OVX2IW0?ref_%3Dwl_share&amp;source=gmail-imap&amp;ust=1763399232000000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2Ju4ZKrFT2rMuEGocIuOtT" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Amazon Wishlist</a> to make this process more convenient for you.
